I've had my LPC-1 for about 12 years now. It is the one device in my collection that I have little to no knowledge about how it works. I had the manuals for it but lost them 10 years ago when we moved from NJ to GA.

Anyway, I was playing a record the other day and the it started to slow down. It got so bad that it eventually stopped playing. If you picked a different record, it would play it for a while, then slow down and stop. The solution was to replace the oil-filled capacitor located in the "Auto-Speed" unit. I also replaced the one Electrolytic capacitor that was in there. I found a kit on eBay that a guy was selling with the parts and it took about 15 minutes including removing the module.

The other issue I had was simpler, My Torrent Control module needs caps. I have the kit, but it's a daunting task to replace them because of how the unit is laid out. Anyway, the box wouldn't accept coins and the selector wouldn't work. This ended up being the 15A fuse in the Torrent control module.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the post. I also have an LPC-1, and that same problem has happened twice, but only after it's been playing nonstop for about 3 hours. I've seen those cap kits on ebay but haven't gotten around to ordering one. It's nice to know thats what the problem probably is.
