Ive hada Seeburg USC1 in my parents basement for years, it worked great for many years and now it has issues -

I forget the sequence, but what happens is you may want to play 300 but it plays 240, try to play 122 and 540 may play. The wrong numbers are always the same - So you may press 6 but its always 3 / etc....

I have replaced the grey and black boxes and have the same issue - So I can only assume its a keypad issue? Anything I can look at?

Well, If you want to play 300, you're SOL anyway as it only goes up to 179/279 ;)

now... smart-ass comments aside (cause you probably don't care to hear them anyway), I had to completely disassemble my keypad (referred to as the Digital Electronic Selector (DES)) and clean almost all the contacts in order to get mine to properly play the selected record. I experienced the same thing you are seeing where it would be very consistent about playing the same "incorrect" song (ie: whenever you select 125, for some reason it always seems to play 179...or something like that.

I highly recommend Tony Miller's "Seeburg Black & Gray Boxes" as it has a complete breakdown of the DES and explains the logic. The USC1 Service Manual is also extremely helpful and has info on the DES that the other book does not. (got my copies from alwaysjukin.com)

In any case, make sure you read at least Tony Miller's book which mentions that many selection problems can be traced to dirty contacts on the selector pc board...I would not recommend just randomly pulling stuff apart...

Hope that helps
