I have a STD3 Seeburg juke box that I got from my father in law. After moving it very carefully to our house it played perfectly for a few weeks then it stopped picking up the 45's. It will accept the selection and search for it but just keep moving up and down the track with out stopping. I found and purchased the operation manual but it hasn't helped me that much. Is there a simple mechanical issue it could be or maybe a relay or something electrical????

if you moved the service switch, make sure you put it back into the play position.

That is good to know! But, where exactly is the service switch at????

There is a possibility that the frog isn't making proper contact with the tormat. But where you aren't sure where the service switch is, it's unlikely you know what a frog or tormat is. You may want to do 2 things. 1) read the operator's manual to find out where that switch is and to find out where the tormat is. ... you can check http://www.west.net/~jay/fmillera/fmillera/symptom_3.htm to see a resolution to your specific problem, but you will need to understand the "lingo". If you do go to phonoland, Ron Rich is a wizard, but he will not spoon feed info, you will get a ceremonious "rtfm" from him if you haven't read the proper documentation first. Just a heads up.

The "frog" switch he mentions is also known as the "indent" switch. IT opens and closes at every record as the record mech scans to the left or right. After moving your juke it is very possible ( as I've seen quite a few times ) that your "indent" switch is out of adjustment. This switch is located on the rear or the mech. But BEST to read your manual so you'll know what you are exactly looking for.

I believe that's the 'detent' switch you're referring to which triggers the the mech to stop and grab a record and that's a great point. If the switch is loose and has moved or if the blade bent a little, it will not be able to stop the mech from moving. Actually I'd look at that first now that you mention it. That is not the frog which I spoke of however. The frog sits underneath the Tormat and it's fingers (blades) glide across the rivets of the Tormat looking for the "charge" on the specific rivet for the selected record, if it can't find the charge, it will continue on. This can be cause by dirty rivets on the Tormat, bent fingers on the frog or dirty fingers on the frog. If the fingers are bent and not making contact, you're best bet is to get replacements, trying to bend them back into position is very difficult and will most likely require you to reposition the frog... which can be a PITA. You do not want to try to clean or bend the fingers on the frog unless you know exactly what you are doing.
