Seeburg Coon Hunt

That looks pretty good!
What's the back look like? Why do you think it's not as good?

It must be more of I know what I did. I used aluminum foil tape for a backer. I used black masking tape for coloring. I can see the seams and wrinkles up close. After taking this picture, it does not look so bad.

Looks fine from here. It's on the back so how many people will see it?

Next time you need black tape for something consider using gaffer's tape. It's better than masking tape in just about every way.

Be wary of this resistor network on the amplifier. I had 50VDC to my gun until I didn't. I imagine this to be a failure point in this chassis. My bear chassis had some that I can make function. The 10W carbon that I tried began to smoke. I will replace the whole thing even though the two outer components still test well.

My mechanism appears to be working so far. The coin box accepts coins and fires properly. I am having trouble registering a shot. One sensor looks to be working. The other two do not. I can register a hit with a LED flashlight. My light from my gun does not work installed. It does trigger the sensor. I do not know if the sensor has changed values over the years. I will do some more experimenting and tuning hoping to get the gun light working.

My LED flashlight triggers my sensor. I tried putting a LED lamp into my gun socket. That did not work too well. The circuit pre-loads the incandescent lamp to keep it warm. This keeps the LED lamp on all the time. Also, the lamp I tried from an auto store was not a direct lamp source. I have some photo resistors on order and will try them later with my stock gun.

I have some lenses if only I can find them. Maybe they will focus the beam more.

Today, I tried a detector that I purchased from Radio Shack long ago in circuit. It worked. I got a lucky gift PCB from a purchase long ago. I am going to install two detectors into this PCB and mount it into the original holder.

I have some odds and ends to clear up. But it sure does look good. They are mangy coons, so I am going to leave the coon on the right with a bushy little tail. I do not see how I can get a tail to match without doing both of them.

New keys need to be installed along with new bulbs. Final testing and a gentle cleaning. Plus, a new back door. Why are the back doors always gone?

Are the owls eyes (upper right) which are red and green supposed to do something?

Great job restoring this - again!

They denote a hit, left or right. They add artistry but are useless for gameplay.

I told him that I would not do any cosmetics. Mostly, it was that I would not repaint his cabinet. His gun was a mess. So, I cleaned that up to make it presentable. I also made him a back door. When he looks at this, I want him to be proud of it.

This turned out real nice. Now, I have to do some long-term playing to make sure I did not miss something

I saw these toppers in an auction and thought of this thread

Yes, I saw those. I have spent a lot of time on this and did not want to stretch myself too thin. I do not know how much the owner of this game wants to spend. There can't be too many people with a Coon Hunt looking for a topper.

I see that they sold for $50 $60. They would have been nice to have. But that was a gamble hoping to get them cheap. I would still have had to set up to have these shipped to me.

The owner picked up his game today. He will not be keeping the carcass. It is a whole cabinet with a defective mechanism that can be rebuilt. It has one set of plastic gears that are good. The other set has issues. I did not reassemble his mechanism. The parts will come in a bucket. There is no amplifier or coin box. It does come with a growler. He has not made an account yet. I can hook you up until he makes an account.
