Hello everyone. I have been lurking around these forums a couple months now and today I had the opportunity to buy 2 Seeburg SMC 1 Disco's and 1 Seeburg STD4 Mardi Gras. I found them on Craigslist last night and emailed the owner. I got a call first thing this morning and she told me they were her uncles and he wanted them out of the barn they were stored in. Since I live to far away and had no way to get them I called my brother who lives right down the road from these babys and he told me he would check them out for me. Well he called me from the barn and said the lady actually plugged the best looking one of the two Disco's up and it started playing albeit at a very low volume. The other one needs more work by far but the glass is intact in all the machines and some rust but not a lot. So I told him to get all three.
So for $300.00 for the three did I get a good deal, I surely think so! I am very excited as I am having a Prelude SMC 3 restored now at a local amusement dealer. Now all I need to find is the Phoenix!
Now is there anyone here who would like to tell me where to start first? I guess I should plug in the working Disco and check if the volume is down because of the volume control right? Or should I do other things first to keep the integrity of the working parts.
I am total NEWBIE and really would love your ideas and your consult.
Thanks in advance and here are the pics as they were being loaded onto the trailer.

Jump over to the jukebox forum at www.phonoland.com and talk to Ron Rich. He is the defacto Seeburg expert. He takes over from the late, great Tony Miller. Ron has written several books on Seeburg repair and has designed a replacement computer board for the SMC 1.

You have to be careful about jukeboxes that have been stored in barns and sheds. Jukeboxes rust up very easily and can be a problem to tear apart to clean up the rust. Mice also climb in through the vent holes in the cabinet bottom and build nests as well as eat the wires!

Nice find. I have the same jukebox you have pictured ( first and second pic ) working, filled with records for $150 if anyone is interested. I also have extra parts for those if you need anything to get yours going, feel free to PM me.

Dave.
