So I got took a few weeks ago on a 720 overlay I got from someone here....

Now I have been waiting for a marquee that I paid for over a month ago...The seller has given a few excuses in the last month and I know that they have had some weather problems. I sent him a PM asking for my money back if he can't get it out. No hard feelings. I have not heard back and it seems that he has not posted anything here in a week.

So I go to paypal today and try to file a dispute and get this....

"We're sorry, but this transaction cannot be disputed because it is not a purchase of goods or services. Please contact the recipient directly."

WTF! So I guess when you do the favor of sending it as a gift (so THEY don't get charged a fee) this happens!

That's the last time I do that.

I make a rule of almost NEVER doing that. If they list it for sale it is their responsibility to "bury" any cost they have into the price I pay. If they don't like that, I don't pay. Hopefully it will work out for you.

I only "gift" those I know well, either by rep or personal interaction.

If someone else requests "gift" payment, I just add a few bucks to cover the fees and send it the regular way...

Yup. That's the trade-off for not being charged a fee.

There are PayPal calculators you can use to guesstimate how much money you need to send to offset PayPal fees for the recipient. Use `em and cover your ass. :D

I've never had a bad transaction here in 7 years. Thanks fellow KLOVinans! :) To the guy with the great name: I hope these work out in the end. Sounds like next stop might be the feedback section. :(

I've done that many a time here myself (gift the money). I guess I've just been lucky. Most if not all of the people I have dealt with have gone out of their way to make sure I am happy with purchases. I'm sorry you've gotten bitten twice lately.

Yeah, the only bad transaction I have had here has been with ramcontrols.com

Just take the total and multiply by 1.029 then add $0.30.

So, if it's $50:

$50 x 1.029 = $51.45 + $0.30 = $51.75

So, send $51.75 and they get $50.

Of course sellers should be figuring the costs of PayPal in to their pricing (just like they figure shipping) so if they ask for $50 shipped, that should include the PayPal fees - and they shouldn't complain about them...

You know half the time I select "gift" it adds the fees to the bill on my end anyway, is there a limited number of times you can do this in a certain period or something?

I have never seen this, but I have been told that if you pay with anything other than an existing paypal balance or 'verified' bank transfer you will get charged the transaction fee.

For your next hosing, might I suggest Fritz? He adopts a no positions barred philsophy and with his special bedside service, there will be nothing but a smile on your face and Condom-mints on your pillow

- at no extra charge.

You know, I've got a 'unfortunate' transaction with another frequent KLOVer right now as well. Been over a month since I've paid, 15 days since its supposed to have been shipped...
