Long story short, I got one of those Japanese cabinets with the odd power supplies that don't do -5v strong enough.

My trouble is I have a bunch of midway boards I got the cab for. I don't want to re-wire the entire cab with a new American style PSU, because too much stuff is wired up to it (monitor and other things).

Is it possible to buy a PSU like the one from jammaboards.com:

And run it in my cab along side the Japanese one, and I'm only pulling -5v off the new supply for my Midway boards, and everything else off the old Japanese PSU.

I would greatly appreciate anyone who can let me know what to do in this case, I'm super stumped!

Doubtful. Since it's a switching PS, it will need a load on the 5V rail (and possibly the 12V rail) to stabilize.

just replace the power supply. or if it's a screw terminal unit like the one you asked about, just add a wire to the -5 line. if your JAMMA harness has the -5 removed or cut off, then you'll need a new harness, or you'll have to resort to jumper wire hacks to the JAMMA finger on whatever board you're trying to use (ugly).

-5 also will not be -5.00 volts... it will be under in the 4.6-ish range, it's just a voltage tolerance that's normal.
