Will a Seawolf of Space Invaders test rom work on any Bally 8080 PCB ?

I have someone with a bad Double Play PCB ( Bally PCB),
and am wondering if either Test rom will work.

The board is strapped for 2716 eproms already.

Any info would be great.

Thanks,
Steph

I have used the SI test rom to find bad rams on a midway gun fight PCB by actually setting it up AS a SI board- that is, I used the SI daughter board on the original gun fight CPU board as they are virtually identical. Once I had the CPU board working fine with the space invaders, I plugged the gunfight daughter in and it fired right up. I didn't try it in a board fully configured as gun fight. If the board is an 8080 board, and it uses ordinary 2716 eproms, I don't see how it could do any damage to try a test rom in the rom socket that corresponds to the lowest address range. Of course, even if it does run the information it gives you could prove to be nonsense. Short answer, I don't know. If double play is one of the L shaped midway boards, it may work.

This is exactly how I worked on my Gunfight, except with a Braze multi SI kit.
Troubleshoot the GF CPU board in a SI configuration. Then put the GF CPU board back to Gunfight configuration and troubleshoot the daughter board.

Just confirmed that it also works to do this with a Shuffleboard CPU, but the Double Play CPU didn't boot (probably an issue with the board, but should work in theory).

Thanks for the advice.

I'll send out an SI test rom, and will report back on how it went.

Cheers,
Steph
