Seattle Show Photos and Videos

Cool man! Congrats!

That was absolutely the coolest. Maybe I'll post the pic up here, just need to figure out how to do it. First thing I did when I got home last night was upload my pics on facebook and make the pic with Weibe my profile pic...

edit - just made the pic my avatar and figured out how to attach it here.

Next time someone is selling a Carnival or an Operation Wolf in the area - maybe give me a heads up (hopefully I'll have the money) Journey really took me back - I remembered enough to get the high score on my 2nd play - doubt it lasted very long though.

They needed to have at least 50% more pins.

some of the main organizers (who are mostly pin guys) made the decision to add more vendors in the pinball room which cut the over-all space for pins, and they ended up turning away machines. we didn't turn any games away on the arcade side but we felt the room was comfortable, with room for maybe 5-10 more cabinets before it would become too full. we lose a lot of space to those large double-doors on the far side of the room which of course must remain clear since they're fire exits.

there is talk about shuffling things around for next year to allow for more pins and to look for a new venue for following events but it's all speculation at this point.

I had a lot of fun when I was able to play (and not watching the kid), but once again my wife's complaint with the show is that a fair number of people don't rotate off the pins, even when someone's waiting to play, or one person will sit and play a 4P game all by themselves when others are waiting. I pointed out the request on the "who supplied this game" label, but she didn't think it was a big enough sign, as people kept refusing to move on from games she was waiting to play... so they were either reading the signs and ignoring them, or not noticing the signs at all.

Thanks to all the volunteers and those that coordinated the show.

There was one guy on Saturday that was in some ways completely the opposite. Every time I walked past the Hyperball this same guy was playing it, studying it. was kind of weird. If you even stopped behind him though, he would turn and ask if you wanted to play... Was neat to see someone so into one game but polite enough to know that others might want to play a game.

Missed it!

Awesome stuff from this show, sorry we missed it. we are just getting started, but this is the kind of show we want to take WFD the Arcade Game to and create some excitmet. Can you guys tell us more that might fit what we are doing?

That virtual pinball was impressive. I got to play it. It's going to be awesome once it's done completely. Few bugs that still need worked out.

I was impressed by the kickback when you hit the flipper buttons... gave it a more real feel.

Thanks. I felt it HAD to have the kickback on the flippers... just didnt feel right without it.

Uh oh, I noticed in the video that my Championship Sprint wasn't turned on. Hopefully nothing serious went wrong with it. Was it off the whole day?

Good to see Arena was up and running on the pinball side. I got a call 10 minutes before it opened yesterday that they couldn't find the keys to put the balls in the machine - so at least that got sorted out.

I found your keys by going through the entire key board. Someone who was unfamiliar with how we had it organized put each set of your keys in the wrong location and it was a mess. I think I reorganized the board three times throughout the show, and there were other people assigned to do it and they spent a ton of time reorganizing as well. It was much better than last year but still needs some work.

What was difficult about the key organization? Key goes to the matching number on the board. How does that get screwed up?

There were multiple problem: the numbers were the same on both sides (vid and pin) of the board with the exception of the last number (2 for vid, 9 for pin). Some people touching the board didn't know what the numbering sequence was, some people would pull a key from a spot and put the key they had in hand it it's spot instead of finding the assigned location for that key, etc. There wasn't an assigned person guarding the key board so anyone could grab a key.

Other things that caused problems were oversized key chain fobs, keys completely missing from some games, and jackasses that kept the keys to their own machines with them because they didn't want anyone else touching their machine.

Like I said, it was much better this year and if we are consistent next year almost all of the bugs should be worked out.

I second that there needs to be someone checking out the keys... and a name should be placed on the empty spot as to who has the key. I lost a set of keys to one of the pins I brought and the lock had to be drilled so they could finish fixing it.

That is a good idea, Timbre. I know there was one instance when I had a set of keys in my hand and was returning from coining up a machine when I got pulled asided to look at a possible fire hazard from one of the EM machines. I totally forgot about the keys until someone asked me about them an hour or so later. If I had placed my name in the key's slot when I removed the key I could have been contacted directly and the problem would have been resolved quicker.

Instead of coding the key with a 2 or 9, maybe a V or P.

2 or 9 would have been fine, if it were a prefix and not a suffix. People knew they should ignore the last digit when searching the board and quickly began ignoring it all together. I almost put pin keys on the vid board on the rare occasion that I was handling pin keys because I was looking at the slot number and ignoring the suffix in order to avoid confusion.
