Searched but didn't find a post relating to my issue with WEI-YA

Ok, I'm new to jamma+ so take that into consideration on my ignorance.
I have a Street fighter EX (maybe EX2 but I cant't see pic well enough to tell).
So, It appears to have lost the horizontal sync. Also appears it may not be the original monitor, don't know for sure.
The monitor board is a Wei-Ya board but not sure of the sub model.
Question: can the Jamma+ board cause a loss of sync (I would guess it can bat had to ask), and if so, can I put a scope on the sync pin to see if it is outputting a sync correctly without an isolation transformer?
Can bad caps on the monitor board cause a loss of horizontal sync?
At a loss of how to go about checking this. I'm not much of a monitor guy but did stay at a Holiday Inn at some point in my life, so take that into considertion as well.

Do you have another Jamma cab you can test the board in? It might be the Jamma PCB that doesn't work. Other than that, check the remote board to see if the horizontal hold pot is broken.

Unfortunately I don't have another Jamma machine to test on. My 1st one (no comments necessary on that one). :) I did check the remote board and Pots seem OK.
Thanks for the input.

did it work before, or did you get it this way?

Usually screens out of resolution will appear to have a rapid h-sync loss. If it just started, then as mentioned go with the hysnc pot... start with the easy I guess.

If you turn the hysnc does the screen change at all? If not, I'd still question the pot.

Got it this way so I don't know the state prior.
turning the horz pot does change the picture but will never "lock" in place and when it get's close, half the pic is on left side the other half on right, but still not a locked in straight pic.
I could take a pic if that's helpful.

Here's a pic of what monitor is doing.
There is a switch on the board (bottom left on the board pic). What does it do?
Checked all of Ken schems of WEI but could not find it.
I thought about powering it off, sliding the switch over, and powering up, but didn't want to hear the boom!
Looking at the monitor pic, I'm now thinking I not getting vertical or horz sync, or this board is just not compatable.
Any ideas on the switch?

No ideas on the switch. Personally I would flip it, but that's just me. I take chances hehe.

It definitely looks to be a sync issue.

I would probably reflow the solder joints on the RGB, Sync, and ground pins, possible on the remote board as well if it appears like it needs it. My consolized Neo-Geo did the exact same thing when the sync connection became completely detached.

I'm no expert, just saying what I would try to do personally.

I am really tempted to flip the switch and might go ahead and do it tonight.
I haven't done a cap kit on this one so far, so may just go ahead and do that also while I have it out again, reflow the joints and see where that gets me.

The switch is a degauss button.

1 wrong guess there, but thanks for playing guess what this switch does.

The Wei-Ya chassis did not come with the game from the factory, it is a replacement chassis and a big turd. It looks to be a 25" monitor? The switch is most likely a resolution selector. Flip the switch and your problem may go away. You can leave it powered up when you flip that switch too. Look all around the flyback for a model tag, it is probably an 829 blah, blah, blah.

I thought he was referring to the switch on the remote. I didn't even see the blurry pic of the chassis. O.O

Yeah a bit blurry but if you stare at it long enough it clears up a bit. :)

I flipped the switch last night and it appeared to make a change, but still no sync, so I took the board out and there it sits on my work table.
I'll check again tonight when I get home, on what model it was.
If someone connected this board (whatever it is) to a monitor larger than what it was designed for, would that cause this problem?
As you can tell I don't have a lot of knowledge on monitors.

If you find you plan on going by willowbrook anytime soon let me know. I live by there and can try the board out in one of my cabs so we can rule that out as the issue.

Appreciate that offer. I'm guessing you are talking about the jamma board right?
I'm going to recap the monitor board next week 1st and see if that helps at all.
If that doesn't work, I may be giving you a shout.
