I just put down some cash on a TFTC pinball machine today. I didn't have my game hauler with me, so I pick it up next week. It looked to be in good shape. I'll need a cliffy protector for the outhole, but other than that - she look's great. I know the Crypt Keeper laugh can get old after a while, but overall I think the theme will be perfect for me. I like horror, comics, and more modern DMD games - perfect.

I can't wait to add this next to my BSD. What do you guys think about this game? I know it's a B title, but heck, BSD is a B title, and I LOVE it. Everything is subjective when it comes to the love of pinball, but just curious for your opinions.

This distracted me from the whole entire post but I'm drawing a blank: What does BSD stand for? I know as soon as someone tells me I'm going to slap myself but still.

I love, love my TFTC.

Had to do a lot of minor work and tweaking to get it playing nice, but totally worth it.

This weekend I am heading into the home stretch with complete flipper rebuilds (all 3 flippers, including new coils) and rebuilding the Crypt VUK. Also replacing the slingshot leaf switches.

I had to rebuild the VUK in the far right corner already, right after I got the game. The VUKs get a huge amount of play in TFTC and are often shot, as in worn out.

I also had to fabricate replacements for the skill shot plastics that go behind and above the 3-bank drop targets, as these are often broken/missing.

Last will be complete LED bulb replacement.

TFTC is a great game, I'm sure you'll love having it.

Enjoy !!! And post lots of pics.

I too think that TFTC is a great game. Had a flipper problem I worked out and there seems to be a problem with the switch on the right upper VUK. Nothing big just normal wear and tear. I do still have a slam tilt problem when hitting the right inverted ramp. Waiting till it gets warmer to figure that out (game in garage). Make sure to put a rubber ring behind the skill shot drops, if not they will break! Got some nice decals off of ebay to fix that. Put a few green LEDs in to give it a more eerie feel. Cleaned up real nice and no plastic ramps to deal with, tough to find on DE games sometimes. Nice pin over all.

Get one of these: Vertical Up Kicker (VUK) Component Kit Item #565-0029-01

And rebuild that VUK - you'll be glad you did. It's not hard and less than 20 bucks.

Your ramp switch = Tilt is almost certainly a wiring problem that is screwing up the switch matrix.

Throw your TFTC into switch test mode with the glass off and hit the ramp switch manually with your finger. It should register as Right Ramp Exit #47 - If it shows up as Slam Tilt #7 (the wrong switch) - that is the key to your problem.

These switches are in the same Switch Row, and switches can show up as the wrong one if the wiring is messed up.

Check the wires and diode to Right Ramp Exit #47 - the wires need to be on the right lugs and the diode needs to be present and wired to the right lugs as well.

I can take pics of mine for comparison.

Nice score!

That's a game I'd very much like to have sitting by my Drac, Freddy and Frank.

Thanks Russ, I'll get the VUK kit when it warms up. That ball cup is toast, so it is not putting the ball up straight into the wireform. Takes about three times to get the job done. Need to check on the switch test mode again. I think I tried to get it to tilt with just the switch in game mode with my hand, but it wouldn't do it. Need to try it in test mode like you said. Might also be some kind of short when the ball touches things.

OK, last night I finished the complete flipper rebuilds (all 3 flippers, including new coils) and rebuilding the Crypt VUK on my TFTC. Also cleaned and waxed again.

Ye gods, the flippers now blast the ball into orbit. I'm getting airballs all over the damn place. No wonder the plastics get smashed to hell on this game.

Time to turn the coil pulse down to Normal or Soft.

That's awesome! Love the theme and shaker motor. The Danny Elfman music is also a plus. Just finished listening to podcast #3, keep it up!
