Now these boards (all of them) have been repaired and tested by the elusive Alex Yeckley, less than a year ago. I have had a few graphics glitches since then, and a monitor wave, but the game usually works fine after a few minutes of warming up. Now I turn it on, and the display comes right up, but continuously blinks like it is resetting at a very fast pace. I can't coin up or start a game. I can power it off and on, then play a game, but it will usually reset and go back to the strobe effect halfway through. It strobes the attract screen, which otherwise looks fine. I know how impossible it is to get a hold of Alex now, and the only other guy who I know repairs these boards has had my Space Invaders Deluxe boards for going on 8 months. Someone hep me?

Make sure it's not the power supply causing the problem. Take the one out of your Space Invaders and try it.

Yeah, I thought of that. He repaired and tested my power board, but was out of one of the big capacitors at the time, so he left the original one in as it was working.

Doesn't El Dorado fix these? Yeah I know the stories. I only used them once and they fixed my boards and there were no further problems.

Have you tried to contact Alex? I sent him a S.I. boardset on 6/21, and according to the UPS tracking info, I'll have it tomorrow. I too have a board repair in limbo with the other fellow you mentioned, he's had it for several months now.

Carefully reseat the ROMs......or at a minimum, push in on them to make sure they're seated. I'd also check the power supply for proper voltage.

If it works by powering it off/on again then you have one of two problems...

Problem in the power on reset circuit which kick starts the CPU...

OR

You have a power supply that's not coming up to regulated voltage quick enough.

Recap the power supply first.

Looks to have been a loose connector near the coin door, I assume maybe the slam switch/reset pin? Anyway, reseated it, issues went away, just like that. Checked it an hour later, still working fine. Scored 9 Gs.
