Are yours as busted up as mine? What's the solution? Some of mine are really bad. Would chrome inserts be a good fix? Seems like this door would be a bitch to repro.

Looks like all you need is a router with the same size bit as the slots...then measure and cut if making a new door. OR just cover each vent with metal screens after cutting out the vents on the old door.
 
Is it particle board or plywood? I would say it would last a lot longer if it was remade out of plywood.
 
What? That's easy!! Just need a router, a straight edge, and some clamps. That's half an hour maybe. Wait....is it plywood or MDF/particle?

Particle board. The sucky part of the design is the the thickness (or thinness) of the crosspieces left behind after routing the channels. They are so damned thin that they are all broken to some degree. I still have many of them in place, just busted in the middle like somebody karate chopped the whole stack.
