Hello,

I am trying to fix my Sea Wolf 1 and Sea Wolf 2. I was really excited when i found someone who was willing to sell me the set. I am not getting any power to the arcades at all and from doing some research online people say that the power supply is the most common problem. they both have their original power supplys in them (I also hear these like to catch on fire) so i want to change them over to one of the new switching power supply, but don't know where to start. does anyone know how to do it or a website with instructions how to do it. I would really like to get the set running again.

Any other suggestions on getting them working would be helpful as well.

Thanks,

I have not heard about them catching on fire. Are you sure you aren't thinking about Dell power supplies and batteries?

The first thing you need to know is what voltages that thing needs. Does it need the -5, -12, -22, volts and is it ac or dc. Galaxian is 7vac input to the pcb. Once you know what the power requirements are then you can decide on a power supply.

The first thing is to look at the power inputs to the pcb and look for a supply that can supply the voltages and current that board needs.

Have you metered the fuses and check the interlocks.

I did a quick search and have not found the manual for that game yet.

Dont do it - leave the originals in there. They don't catch fire. In addition, both boards have special reset circuits that are a pain to emulate without the original power supply.

Have you done the basic checks like making sure all your interlock switches are pulled out, fuses are good, etc? Does the monitor light up?

I have check it out and everything looks right. I used my tester and i have power going into the power supply, but no power going out of the power supply.

Sea Wolf II has a very different (and to my knowledge, unique) power supply from Sea Wolf.

SWII is a card cage boardset like Gorf and the like. The reset line will be opposite polarity from the 8080 board.

To the OP: Stick with the original reg board. Replace *all* electrolytic capacitors first, then troubleshoot problems if needed. Also clean all fuseholders and fuses. Replace as needed.

Your first statement is not true.. Sea Wolf II is not a card cage design at all. And in no way does it look like Gorf.. In fact it resembles an 8080 style but it is not an 8080 design. It only takes the L shape look. Aside from that its all together different than the 8080 like its predesessor Sea Wolf I which is a true 8080 L shape design. The power supply is unique to Sea Wolf II as well. The monitor chassis in this game is the Electrohome G02 and has a 25 inch color tube. I believe this was the first "true" color video arcade game title to be produced.

Updating this old thread.

I can confirm Sea Wolf 2 does use an "L" shaped board set just like Space Invaders and Sea Wolf original. However, the Sea Wolf 2 board uses a Z-80 processor chip. Also, this game does indeed support either a black & white monitor or a color monitor by simply flipping a dip switch on the game board and plugging in alternate cables for whatever monitor is in the cabinet.

I'm looking at a Sea Wolf 2 right now and it has an Electrohome G02 monitor in it. Here is the G02 service manual:

http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Monitors/Electrohome G02 Issue 1.pdf

Capkits are available for the G02.
