[ Scratch Build ] 90's Midway Control Panel Box, MK3/UMK3

I believe you are seeing the actual design in the CPO, not a texture.

Nope. The design does hide it a bit, but check the reflection around the left edge. And if you look at the bare panel, you can see that there are divots where the knots are.

Ah yes, this is probably because he doesn't have the metal panel that's suppose to be in between the 2.

ahh purists roid raging over little bits.... yes I didn't use metal part, so what! I never said this was %100 accurate, I worked with what I
had available and the end result came out perfect, even tho "..in your mind" it isn't ...for you...

that is .185 or .195 thick( its one of the 2 ) sanded smooth and I assure you those aren't divits or nots nuts w/e u wanna call it, the panel is smooth as a babys ass

I like 2 be different with wood choices I made... and its not going into a dedicated cabinet so who cares....besides, it adds character to the cpo sice itself has grain in it too

No purist here, I don't give a limp wank about any MK game. I'm just always amazed to see how expensive it is to be cheap.

^ if u want to derail a thread , the exit door is this way --->

seriously callin me a cheap ass cause I didn't use metal or mdf ???? ,why comment then... lets keep this clean...and keep comments to yourself if nothin constructive to say this isn't hondatech forums

now that that is out of my system, I don't have to explain why I used pw etc to any1, I did it cause I wanted to and that's that. yeah its not oem but do you know how hard it is to find a original box that some1 is willing to let go and ship ??????

I dunno, man. I've always been of the mind that if I'm going to take the time to do it, I'm going to use quality materials and do it right. I think that you were pennywise and pound poor. The correct materials at the beginning of the project would not have cost too much more (possibly less) than what you ended up with here and given you a much better result.

My advice for projects like this in your future is to look into black melamine or laminate.

Also - when did scratch builds become "restores"?

wasn't/not pound poor, i just like plywood and nothing wrong with that... I understand mdf is better but this isn't going into a dedicated machine
so i decided that it wasn't worth the need for the nicer stuff... same could be said about a paint job on a Yugo, I wouldn't want to spend 1500 for
paint on that pos car lol..I don't care what others think... its not 100% perfect but it came out excellent.

still have to get molding and router etc...

Sadly I have witnessed someone drop 5k on a paintjob for a yugo... I think for what you were trying to accomplish you did just fine. As you said its not going on an original cab and if someone gets there knickers in a bunch over the materials used then too bad. Its been said time and time again you can do what you want with you machine. If your happy with the result then that's all that really matters. That said I think you did a fine job.

My carpentry skills aren't that great either!! I think it's looks good...bottom line you learned something new, had fun and your happy with it...more power to ya😎

^ some1 who understands.. thanks.. I'm happy with the result and it turned out perfect even tho it isn't from mdf....

that's the point....

Shit if you ever want to redo it just to shut up the haters of a already amazing from scratch build I'll send you another CPO for free if you pay the $5 shipping! People don't get the amount of trial and error or research that goes into these machines! Especially trying to make one from scratch!

anyway, ill keep that offer in mind tho if and when I decide for round 2:p .

haters will hate on any1 over stupidest things a person does to their project...screw them. I seen my fair share of them on evolutionm.net with what I done to my car and I just give them the bird.....I couldn't care less if I didn't use the proper materials & I did what I did cause I wanted to and it came out very good..

this might be borderline but this needs to be said since theirs a lot of hating going on in this thread for no reason

hehe thanks, got my oz rally out of paint booth again 2x in 2 years due to idiots not paying attention and one destroying my evo 7 front end on
my oz rally. ill be ready for mod2017 ( 2hr drive) anyway I digress at my old age...

picked up my plexi top from local eplastic shop and its spot on match to the wood top and fits right in with the cpo perfectly... some of the routed holes may
differ slightly( depends on operator ) but I had no issue installing buttons etc....
