Hi. I've got a Big Buck Hunter: Shooter's Challenge arcade with a recently upgraded hard drive (it failed earlier this spring and I had it replaced)

I noticed today that the text on the screen has vertical lines running through it as well as some of the deer scene backgrounds. Other graphics, sound effects, and game play all see fine. The monitor itself is fine.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, but they show that text has lines, but the background graphics don't.

Has anyone seen this before? Is this a PCB issue or a Hard Drive issue?

I've been toying with buying a compact flash version of the game, but don't want to commit if it won't fix the problem.

Thanks,
Pete

if not u will need a video card sooner rather then later

Thanks - that sounds like a plan.

Is there anywhere I should look for a BBH video card, or just keep an eye out on eBay and the forums?

ya and good luck in that quest

words of advice though
if u can find more then 1 then buy more then 1
next to the hard drive they are the hardest working part on the red/green boards

Wow - that's great. I didn't know these were off the shelf components.

I'll see if I can find one. Otherwise, the eraser technique it is.

Pete

To be honest, I would do the eraser first, it is easy to do and if it works you don't need to buy any parts.

Just remove the video card and rub the eraser over the contact pins on the card (Buff them up some). Then once that is done insert and remove the card a few times to help clean the card socket. 3 or 4 times should be enough. If all goes well... problem solved. Also on another note, IF the card is indeed bad, make sure on the new one you place a fan near it to help cool it. these run crazy hot and inside a cab it gets worse.
