So I finally got this installed and working over the weekend. Works great, nice to have the free play mode and it did save the high scores. One comment though, did I miss something somewhere on the no initials with the high score? Not a big deal though, I love the kit.

Scramble never entered the initials and I did not make any changes to add it. It would have been to invasive. High score acts as it always did, just saves and restores it from nvram now

Awesome, no problem. Love them they work great and don't change the original "feel" at all. And yes, I was the kid who never paid attention in class.

The Konami version does not exist, it is an urban legend. XXI21 and I spent 2 years+ looking for one to go for a world record and finally gave up. TG must know this, they merged the two versions and only show one now. That said, if you have the Konami version of the board, you might be able to sell me that and another kit.

The boardset does not matter, the updated eprom will run the konami game code on either boardset without the black box
I have this version in my scramble, i need all the help i can get.

Remove the eprom on the HSS kit with Stern code and place the new eprom on the kit with Konami code. However, it will not save you 15% on car insurance.

The Konami and Stern versions of the Scramble PCB are physically equivalent. Either one can run either code version. Anyone can burn the Konami code (it's been in MAME forever) and run it on their Scramble board. But, just like any repaired board, TG probably won't accept it since it's "tainted" in their ignorant eyes.
If I ever come across an unmolested Konami Scramble board then I'll send it your way. The only Scramble boards I've seen that are running the original Konami code were bootlegs. That's because all the legit boards in the US should be Stern licensed. A legit Konami Scramble board would have to come from Japan or Europe I'd imagine.

I got my Scramble kit installed today and it works great. My cabinet is undergoing restoration out in the garage, so I've been playing it on the test bench all evening.
Installed mine on Saturday. Today I boot the machine and the highscores are reset to 10000. I turn the machine off and on and now the highscores are scrambled (pun NOT intended) - including hex and graphics characters.
Any ideas?

This is strange i have both the Scramble and the Super Cobra mod and both work great. I think your correct, might be your board.

Mine does the same thing. I took pics of it, but haven't had the time to check in with Jason about it. I think it is a ROM issue.
