Hey guys, wondering if someone with a scramble can help out.

I got the pinouts for my scramble harness from mikesarcade.com:

http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=pinout&page=Konami-Stern.html

My Scramble appears to be using the factory wiring (but I could be mistaken)... Here's the issue I am having. Both fire and bomb buttons on the left side fire only. no bomb.

The buttons on the right only function as P1/P2 buttons and do not fire.

On the pinout chard, which of the connection controls bomb? The only button connections I see in the pinouts are P1 fire, P1 Start, P2 Fire and P2 Start.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thanks!

Pin H is Fire
Pin C is bomb

If you were here in person... I would stroke your beard.

So how are the buttons on the right handled? Like for P1 start and P2 start? Just wire the two right buttons to H and 5 in addition to wiring to H and C?

Right hand side only

P2 (Pin 5) and Bomb (Pin C) are wired to the button
P1 (Pin E) and Fire (Pin H) are wired to the button.

Rez'ing an old thread: I am rewiring a new CP for Scramble and have an old CP that is not working. The old CP has a small resisitor soldered between the tabs of the leaf switch used for P1 Start/Laser button. This is also the case for the P2 Start/Bomb button leaf switch. For example on the P1/Laser button, the P1 Start line is soldered to one tab on the leaf switch, the Laser wire is soldered to another tab on the same switch, and a resistor is soldered across both of those tabs. I vaguely remember reading about this, but I can't remember where. I did a cursory search here and on google, and have not found anything. The sschematics don't seem to be helpful for this either. ANy thoughts on this?

Sounds like a 1N4148 switch diode. No need for it, remove it and move on.

re-reviving this old beast...

James, did you end up taking out those little diode/resistors between the tabs? Mine has them too and I was wondering what noticeable impact it had, if any?

Dok, thanks for the original tip.

Can't speak for the OP, but I removed them from my Scramble. They didn't cause any issues playing Scramble, but when I put my Gyruss pcb in the cab, it wouldn't fire until I removed those diodes.

I just finished replacing the stick on my Scramble and removing those diodes. Removing them killed the fire/bomb functionality on mine but the buttons would still register for selecting one or two players.

Fortunately I had clipped them carefully enough to be able to reconnect them. Soldered them back in and bomb was back to normal...almost. The fire/1P button still only functioned as player one select.

Took me a little bit to realize I had put the diode in backwards. The black end of it (cathode terminal end, apparently) needed to connect to the other tab.

Back to normal now. Curious that the removal of these in others didn't cause any issues.

Anyway, Glad to get it back to baseline functionality with the proper stick in there now!

I bet I forgot to mention that you have to add a straight jumper in place of the diode.

Welllll...maybe, maybe you did. By straight jumper do you mean just solder in a wire?

Nice to know for the future. Back in the "if it ain't broke..." mode now!

It's only an issue if you wanna put other Konami shooters in there. No worries if you stick with Scramble and Super Cobra.
