It's a prototype, and it's gaming, but it's not a game. If you're here to see a cabinet, turn back now.

This is a piece of test equipment under the Kobetron brand with the board branded Kurz-Kasch. It is one of 6-7 prototypes to the ICT-800 in circuit tester, of which only 4 were sold. It is a logic comparator. Shortly after it became the ICT-800, it was discontinued due to market lack of appetite for the product. Likely because they were late to market and the pie had grown too small. I'll skip the correspondence mail.

Since there is obviously zero documentation on the device, I'll start with what i've discerned to date. I have to mock up a test clip for J1 to provide any usage results.

You insert the part you want to compare into the ZIF. A breakout originating from J1 is clipped to the chip in circuit. Power is provided via the circuits 5v supply. You select the part number suffix from the logic family using the pushbutton switches up top. Ie. 7400 would select '000'. You let it run and it will latch a fault if one is encountered. You can reset this fault latch using the pushbutton reset switch.

The unit includes a 2732 program ROM which stores the output tables the device will use to determine which pins to disconnect for output comparison via the relay bank on board. The 74f521 8 bit identity comparators handle the grunt work. I will update as I find more so documentation exists.

Very cool.....
Does it work?
That seems much easier than having all these test cards around as is necessary with the Fluke......

very interesting. So if I understand correctly you need a known working chip to compare against?

At least HP had the selectable card.. If it actually shows up in your kit. LOL. Unsure of operating status at this time. I dumped the ROM contents and it wasn't blank. Assuming all that's OK, I can fix anything else it might need. I'll know more later.

Correct. Think of it as an HP comparator that does the switching for you.
