Scored a nice Galaga restoration, need help finishing it up.

Over the last month or two I've become fascinated with the idea of owning a Galaga arcade game. I considered new cabs and old, Jamma, Mame or just keeping it stock. I happened upon a mostly completed resto on CL and brought it home.

(ETA: I know the kick art is too low, the corner protectors look like crap and it needs leather t-molding, all of which I'll fix myself, soon)

It's got new art on three sides, new CPO, original marquee and bezel. All the wiring and internals look original(ish) and I suspect the coin door and parts have been serviced or replaced. Same for the CP.

A local arcade fan suggested my cab may be a reproduction based upon the 2x4 bracing at the bottom and sides. I'm thinking it's just been reinforced (as have the old screw holes been reinforced with JB weld), because the serial number on the cab matches the one on the tag. Anyone know why it appears to have two serial numbers?

Where do these two tags affix to?

And if you're feeling really helpful, where do all these tags go? And how about the Yellow wire? I have another one going to the filter board and another one going to the coin door and frame.

The CP looks great except for the minor bubbling/cracking along the edge, anyone tried to remove those clear cracky bubbles with a heating iron or similar?

I've got the original buttons which I'll clean up and reinstall, along with the original leaf switches for the joystick. The coin door looks great except no rivets on the name plate.

There's a little paint to be touched up in the bottom right corner of the bezel and a bit along the bottom also.

I've read SO much on the forum these last few weeks. Thanks everyone for all the good info so far! I appreciate any input on changes or improvements I can make to further restore it's functionality and condition.

Dip switch and serial # tags go behind on the wood panel that is connected between speaker, marquee light bottom panel and just above bezel mounting bracket. If that makes sense. You should be able to see the staple holes!

Congrats on the pick up, very nice machine :)

I recently finished restoring one myself but re wired the cab with a new JAMMA harness, kept the original Galaga PCB intact inside the cab but added a 60 in 1 board. Needless to say, I play it way more than all my other cabinets.

If you need photos of where the dip switches tag goes, I would be more than glad to take a photo of mine.

Cheers

Okay found where they go. The dip switch sheet was stapled to board above the monitor. The SN tag was stapled to the left side cab wall to the left of the monitor.

Now to the right of the monitor I found another set of staple holes but have no matching tag, what goes there? It looks to be a tag about the size of my SN tag but the staples are lined up perpendicular to one another unlike the SN tag where they are parallel.

I also have a ton of screws and bolts I need help identifying. I'll post a pic soon.

Thanks so far!

While I was shopping for a monitor for my Galaga I stumbled upon another favorite of mine, Rampage World Tour. Like my Galaga I paid only $300. I just couldn't pass up the chance to get the family a game they can enjoy also.

I did pick up my third...it's hiding out in one of the pics. Easy to miss :)
