Spy Hunter was one of those games that I just thought I'd never get.. The few I've seen have been beat or converted.. The others have been expensive.. Well, my luck finally changed with this title.. Took me 3 hours, a hurt knee, and ripped my shirt puling out of the truck by myself last night..

But, I now own one!!

The seller bought it out of the WantAds in 1990. He even still had the ad in the coin bucket. Monitor is dead, and the original ps is there, but a pretty old switcher is hacked in.. Seems like the game runs on both power supplies.. Instead of wiring the switcher in, it's plugged in the base of the game.. Awesome.. As the seller didn't know that, he just turned it off with the switch he installed on the front of the game.. :(
Which only turns off the monitor and marquee.. So have the boards been running for 20+ years? Who knows..

Game works, actually works really well. It's really dirty..It was covered in spider webs, eggs, and dirt. But hardly a scratch on the game. No water damage... It sat in a corner in his cellar since he bought it in 1990..

I've got a newer Wells monitor with low hours that's going into it.. Plugged it in last night just to see if the video actually worked.. It did!

Pictures were taken this morning, haven't even had a chance to clean it up...

nice score, that monitor looks great! have you ever seen the c.p. version around? I remember seeing one in the 80's i think..

Cockpit...

Yeah, just saw a cockpit version in a warehouse a few weekends ago.. Didn't work and all the art had been torn off. Plus the Op wasn't easy to deal with..

Yeah, the monitor is awesome.. Bought it a while back out of a warehouse.. It was labeled dead.. But all it needed was the missing remote pcb.. Don't think it was ever used.. I've been saving it for a keeper.

It looks a lot better than mine does...but mine WILL look like yours someday!!! (Raises victory fist...). That is a really nice clean piece. I'm happy for you to score it. Enjoy playing it for me too, as mine is currently not working :(

cleaned it up last night..

So I spent a few hours last night with my favorite tool.. Magic Eraser..
There are 2 small damage spots on one side, that's it!

Now the hard part is going to be swapping monitors.. I've got a newer wells, but it's in a horizontal frame.. So I guess I'll have to use an old vertical frame I've got from a 4900.. Might have to drill some new holes for the chassis.. I pulled the old monitor out last night.. quarter the way there..
