For God's sake I must be hooked on this hobby. A local Craigslist ad for a Tempest in my podunk town is quite rare. This was by far the most difficult pickup I've ever done. I am still in disbelief that we got this thing out of the house it was in. The entire move out of the house allowed only for mere fractions of an inch of space the whole way. To top it off, we had to get it down 4 icy stairs leading down from the porch. I had to help shovel the walk - a narrow 18" - 24" wide path with rocks down the side. I hated using my new Tempest as an additional snow plow, but it was necessary.

I highly recommend timing your pickups in good weather - I'm beat! \

Sad part is, I still have to unload this thing by myself when I get home. At least home is only a few miles away! I'll do my best not to slip on the ice and break my leg trying to get this beast in my house. What does one of these things weigh anyway?

What's the worst hell have you've put yourself through for a cab?

Looks like an early artwork model too. Even bigger score ! What's the SN on that thing, bet it's low.

edit: take a pic of the control panel overlay, does it have numbers instead of little monsters next to player 1 and player 2 start buttons ?

Serial# 2793

The CPO may have been replaced at some point -- it has the little guys doing the 'Y' in YMCA.

Totally worth the effort for a Tempest, great game. One day I will have to post some of my pick up stories.

Nice grab. Where in CO are you? We got 15" out of this storm, but if I saw a deal on a game, I wouldn't have hesitated to go get it.

I have yet to hit snow bringing a game home, but I did hit a mini blizzard when I drove to Albuquerque last month to get my Super GT. Pic shows the snow at the very tail of the storm. It was so bad we had to drive for several miles at 15 MPH. Mind you, this was at 2AM:

Besides that, I hit a rain storm bringing my Tron home in an open pickup bed. Fortunately I was able to go fast enough that the rain didn't hit it.

I remember your Albequerque run and was wondering how in the hell you got your wife to go with you - my wife would never do an all night drive for one of my dumb games!

Anyway, I am in Greeley - not known for its great game selection. Hell, most games for sale in Greeley get advertised in the Denver Craigslist section. We didn't get as much snow as Denver this time - only about 4 inches, but it was enough to make things difficult for picking up a game. Plus the fact that the guy I bought it from didn't have a driveway, and the stairs and front porch with 90 degree turn into the house with 2" rises and falls where different floor sections meet. It took us several attempts - getting part way out, then having to back up and start over before we finally found a solution for getting the game out of the house. Crazy!

What's weird about that is she wanted to go. I was originally planning on going on a day she had to work, but she insisted on going. I think she kind of regrets that now though...lol

That move sounds overly complicated. At least it's over with now :D
