Atari System 1 cabs, what is the internal set up on them?
I believe they use some common 'main' board and then the daughter board is the actual game? Is this correct?

I may get a parts kit for a Road Blasters, but I think it only has the daughter board, controls, and marquee. What else would I need (besides monitor of course)?

Yes, there is a common motherboard as well as ARII, power supply which uses 2 big blues, and a fan on the back wall.

Unless the Road Blaster kit is really cheap, I bet you can get a complete Road Blaster cab for not much more. There is one on CL down here for $180 that looks in nice shape.

I may be wrong (as I don't have a System 1), but I thought Sys 1 used an ARIII (vice the ARII).

Mine has an ARIII, if you get one make sure the fan near it is working as they're known for getting cooked. If I recall it consists of the AR, A power block, a main board and the daughter which plugs into it via a couple of edge connectors.

I'd love to get a Road Blasters for 200 or less. I have a personal rule that any almost working game is worth 200 to me !

I just can't find any within range of my worn out minivan.

Really? :(

I found mine for $175.

Not bragging, but they are certainly out there. RoadBlasters is the least expensive of the line of System 1 machines. I really doubt that you'd find a $175 Marble Madness ;)

Just looked at mine. All four of them are ARIII's. I had just been looking at the manual recently and remembered seeing a picture of one labeled with II's.
