Wanted to get Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 thinking this was a CPSII board, but found out it just had to be a Sega NAOMI one. Is this just a simple plug it into a JAMMA connector and play? Or is there a lot more to it?

Yes it will be plug and play with CPS2 or CPS3 as long as you end up with the capcom io board. Also keep in mind that the capcom io does not output enough power to run a gd rom drive if you were ever thinking about adding that.

It is jvs aka jamma2 which uses a USB and VGA cable. If your cab is jamma, you would need a jvs to jamma adapter.(Capcom I/O)

You have to own the Sega Naomi system which consists of a motherboard, I/O and a few other parts. If I am not mistaken there is an adapter for a jamma connection. These systems come up for sale on Ebay but they always seem to be a bit pricey. Sometimes you can get lucky and buy a complete machine with an unpopular naomi game for not a whole lot of money and just swap out the cart with MvC 2. MvC 2 is usually not a cheap cart, though.

I don't believe this game was ever released on a multi-board.

You might want to check the namco arcade site, they were selling MvC 2 machines for around $350, complete. You will have to check your area for availability.

Yea, I know you need to have the whole system to run the cart, I was just wondering if the whole system can just be a plug and play into a JAMMA connector. I'm not too worried about the gd rom drive. I just figure if I want to put one of the best Capcom fighters in a cab, it would have to be MVC2 or a 18-in-1 Capcom pcb. Would have been nice if they could have made that one more game for the CPSII system. :( I'll have to check that site out an read more about it. Thanks Everyone.

there are two common I/O boards for Naomi.

The Capcom one is the one you want. It's pretty pricy as it commonly goes for $150 since the Sega one doesn't have a Kick harness on there.

The Capcom interface board handles sound, video, and controls going to the JAMMA edge connector. It takes power from the JAMMA connector and feeds it to the Naomi board also.

I just happen to come across a spare one today.
