I've never seen one or played one. I read what Gozer had to say in his book; and it looks pretty cool. Charger here on klov owns one obviously(he's in Gozer's book).

Anyone else here own one? Who has played it? How deep is the game? Is it fun or does it get old quick ?

I see on ebay they range from around $1k-$2K. How many units were made?

I think this game would be a cool addition to my arcade(anyone's arcade for that matter). I'd sure like to play one at some point.....

I've got an E/X in the garage. Need to fix the monitor and sell it, because it's too damn big.

Anyway, it's a pretty cool game. You have a little LED screen inside the sniper rifle that shows a blow up of wherever you are aiming, so you can get your crosshairs on the targets. I like it much better than some of those "Mission" games for the console like Rainbow Six where you have a "team" and have to figure out where everyone goes and have to keep track of them. This is just you against the bad guys.

It's not easy. Mine has a level where you are underwater and have to shoot at frogmen patrolling security around an underwater base. The water affects your bullets and causes them to veer slightly, so you have to compensate.

The only real gripe with OWNING the game is like most shooting games - on free play and with continue, you can just play all the way to the end every time.

Still, once I get it working again, I may decide I like it enough to keep it - but I doubt it. It takes up the space for 2, maybe 3, games, and i could use the space...

Do you know how much it weighs? Thanks for all the info by the way.....

It's f-ing heavy! You'll need four or five guys to move it if you have any stairs. It's also totally worth it. No need to shell out a grand or two though. Find a Tilt near you, they'll sell you one for five or six hundo. Now that I think about it, I should already own this.

According to this flyer below, it's 740 lbs! I have a lift gate on the work truck and use it to move the game. It does have wheels on the bottom.

I can believe it's that heavy. When I was moving it into the garage, I tried to lift one end up 1" to get it over the lip of the the garage slab, and couldn't do it. I stuck my dolly under one end and pried it up enough while someone else pushed it, and got it in...

You can get them at auction for 2-500 at this point, for any version (original, Dark Silo, or EX). They are a blast, but they are heavy. The front pedestal can come off for transport. Some things to watch for:

-If the scope screen is dead, they are expensive to replace unless you find someone parting one out
-The board is one of those Konami system things where if the custom chip goes bad, it costs like $300 to repair from Betson (RTC chip)? Similar to Police 911 or Mocap Boxing, or Code one dispatch.
-The games use a mid res monitor, so you'll usually find a standard size one with a K7500 or a D9200 in it.

I bought a SS at an auction for $400. It's a big heavy game. Fun at first but the game play gets old. I sold it about a month later.

As far as gun games go this is not bad. Ya i would not pay over $300 for one. I picked this one up working for $60.00 (i am a cheapskate)at auction. And yes if the board goes out it is big bucks.

Namco Arcade sells them.

I've seen the original silent scope for $300-$400 at the low end. As I recall the big ticket item to repair/replace is the rifle.

1 and 2 break down, and the ex does not. I want one bad.. The 1&2 are about 32.1 inches wide however it seems if you break it down then its thinner sideways which should fit through a door no problem

Thanks for confirming the breakdown options. Can someone provide accurate dimensions of the individual pieces? Unlike most people, I bring my games into my house through a window. :)

I got the following dimensions from a SS2 owner:

"The bigger section with the monitor is 71 inches tall x 25 1/2 inches deep x 32 1/2 inches wide. The part with the gun measures 57 tall x 42 inches deep x 31 inches wide."
