I have a chance to get a good deal on a HUGE sega waverunner arcade game. You literally sit on a big waverunner jet ski and play. It supposedly works good but the "hydraulics" as the owner says dont work. He seems to think the compressor is bad.

WHat are my chances thats all thats wrong? Ive had my fair share of sega games over the years inclusing a deluxe trilogy but ive never tackeled a game with penumatics before.

That's a little vague. The only way you will know for sure is to have
a working compressor hooked up. The drive board could have problems.
There's a handful of (expensive) sensors, any of which could go bad. It
could be as simple as a bad infrared safety sensor on the base. The list
goes on.

you need a good working compressor. I don't know wtf is wrong with ours, but you have to manually center the jet ski to initialize the drive board. and even still, while it has motion and all, it will still eventually wind up sagging to the right.

pcjohn, if you have any suggestions or wanna help me with that let me know.

I can have it for near nothing basicallt trading for a game i cant even get $150 for here. so i dunno...

I do have some spare model 2 boards for a top skater that may be of some use someday but looking around i have seen alot of those things fs and they all are sagged to the right lol. weired.

The only way to know for sure is to start with a good compressor.

First, there are 3 sets of infrared sensors around the base of the machine. There is
no way to test them through software. If one is bad or blocked the ride won't move.
You have to trace the outputs back to the IO board to make sure they work and are
wired.

Next, many of the games with the internal compressors also have an air
pressure sensor that needs to be jumpered when installing a second tank.

When the game powers on, it should raise the ride up all the way, then down,
then up and down in steps, then left then right, then center. If all the sensors
are working the game is good to go. If there is a sensor issue you will see a
DRIVE BOARD ERROR on the lower corner of the screen. Some errors will still
allow the game to run.

I've worked on full sized rides and pneumatics for years, so for me it's really
an easy machine to work on however it does require some perseverance.

yeah, ours does everything but the turning left and right parts.. and motion will still work, just eventually it gets stuck right and will move up and down, but doesn't really turn left and right.

If the left/right valves work in the test menu, then it's most likely the
roll sensor ($$$) in the tail end of the bike has gone bad.
