School me on nintendo cabs !!

If it's made of plywood, lightweight and the trim is about 11/16" then you have a DK cab. If it's heavy, particle board and trim is 5/8" then you have a Popeye.

There were plywood Popeye cabs and also particle board DK cabs. Like timberterror said, it depends on where it was made.

I was told when i got mine the started was bad on it. I would'nt know where the starter is on it .

Yes the goal would be too restore it too factory shape. Thinking it over would'nt getting the complete replacent be better in the long run?

Might end up doing this in like 5 years or so anyways?
If you're going for the "purist" approach, you can get both the bulb and the starter from topbulb.com

Bulb Part #FL-10D $8.99 / Starter Part #FG-7E $3.99

No way dude!

That's only moderately confusing. Yes, there are lots of conversions, as just illustrated. There are also a ton of cabs with Vs. or PlayChoice in them. I can second pretty much everything said so far. When replacing the marquee lamp, don't plug a new one into the outlet in the bottom of the cabinet. That runs only 100V not 110V. A standard florescent might not start very well on only 100V. You have to hack into the 110V before it goes into the transformer but after the power switch. From most accounts, the Sanyo monitors are pretty reliable and easy to repair. Good picture on them as well. One thing to watch out for, power supplies in Popeye don't have as high a current rating as the other games. I assume Popeye boards don't draw as much current but I don't know for sure. I think I read that in one of the game manuals somewhere.
