Ok so I have a chance to get a Neo Geo 4 slot.

First off what do I need to look for if getting into these?
Second, what are the general price ranges?

I know 3 of the 4 titles in the game right now.

Any help would be great. :)

Condition on the cab first. The sides get pretty worn but there is replacement stencils for the Neo logo. Just paint the sides red and stencil in white.

Do all four slots work? Is there battery damage on the pcb?

Does the marquee use the EL panels? If so do they work? If not, did they replace them with a flourescent?

What are the games they have with it?

All of those determine the value of a Neo cab.

Will get condition of cab when I see it.

List of games is:
Some motorcycle game
Football Frenzy
Ninja Combat
Thrash Rally

Oh and it was the wife that found this for me. :D

multi slot neo geo is not jamma. You can get an adapter to play jamma boards in the cabinet. multi slot neo in dedicated cabinet is stereo

Th EL panels never work. So don't let that stop you..

your going to want to buy a multi cart for it, so what game is inside is not that important.

Make sure the audio section is working properly. The battery will need to be replaced.. So plan on making some repairs.

if you see the game and lines on the screen with some carts, that usually means dirty cart slot.

I have a JAMMA to MVS converter if you're interested. It came with my cab and since I'm sticking with just MVS in the cab I'd be willing to offer up the converter.

Good info above. I always forget that someone may want to use a different pcb in the Neo cabinet. I would never use a multi-cart, though. I just like original carts. Just my preference.

About the audio, if it is blown there is a "cap kit" replacement that supposedly fixes this problem (need to order one and try it on one of my boards).

Nothing else to really add to what's been said. Determine that it is a dedicated cab and then go down the laundry list.

...but there is replacement stencils for the Neo logo.

Really? Can you point me towards them? I was thinking of creating my own stencils in the following months and didn't realize someone else was selling them. :p

4 slot boards suffer from the following common issues:

Dirty carts
Dirty slots
Leaking battery
Low or missing audio from one or more channels

Clean the carts/slots. Instructions are available on http://www.hardmvs.com

Replace the battery with a standard NiCd or NiMH 3.6v 80ma computer battery. Pics and instructions are on my website under the downloads section.

Audio issues are 99+% of the time caused by bad caps. You can chase down the individual caps but there aren't any specific ones that always go out. It's a crapshoot because of the poor quality caps SNK used on the boards. The cap kits I have on my site cover most of the caps. There are some simple DC smoothing caps that don't get replaced.

Instructions on which caps to replace is in the downloads section on my site.

I actually may be mistaken on this. I know he made them at one time but he may have stopped because of lack of interest. I know he still sells them as a sticker set. Looks exactly the same. I'll let you know when I find out for sure.

Okay that was too much information! Can I have 3:57 minutes of my life back or is it gone forever?

You'll be singing it tomorrow morning... You'll see. Haha

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Now I just have to wait for the wifes's friend's boss's son to call me so I can look at the game.
