I know an op that has about 6 Initial D V2 and V3's twins, all supposedly have some sort of issues and problems. Now I buy from him as is where is, so I don't get to plug the machines in, but I can look through them and such. Now what should I look for, I know there are issues with monitors on these machines, what kind of replacement options do I have for that??? I am pretty sure it is the GDROM that runs these, are there other key parts I should look for like securtiy chips and such??? If a worst case scenario, what do you think parted out it could be worth? What do fully working machines go for these days??

Thanks for any input, I appreciate it...

i just bought a twin V3 working but in poor condition for $1k, also working card readers

if your really going to take your time checking the machine before any transaction is done here is a list...

-check both players gas and brake gears (hardcore players tend to press on the gas repeatedly on those corners, and cause the gears to wear out)

-check both feedback motors to see if they respond correctly. (game test mode)

-check for both card reader units, ask for the cleaning cards, if he dont know what your talking about most likely you got some messed up card readers.

-check the gd-rom drive, this is probably the most expensive part.. is it dusty? if it is most likely he never cleaned it out which means more work with the dust causing it to fail.

pm me if you need more info or help....

Also to add to this list is to check the monitors and make sure the coloring is fine. These games have Sanwa 29" monitors in them(not made anymore). You might think it just needs a cap kit, but the TUBE actually fails before the monitor chassis does.
