I just picked up a Golden Tee Fore 2005. There are 5 courses immediately playable, but the game description says there are 7. The other 2 are only playable supposedly if you have tournament play enabled.

So the question is, do I have to be hooked up to a phone line to ITS to get the other 2 course? If so, do I have to pay fees or can I be hooked up for free?

Is there any way to get the extra 2 courses without dialing into ITS?

I know, get Fore Complete, then don't worry about number of courses. Sorry, I only have 2005 to work with at the moment.

Thank you for any input.

Hmmm. By 'in the description' do you mean that you can see the 6th and 7th course, but it won't let you select it?

2005 originally had 5 courses, then it was updated with an 'extra' kit that the operators had to buy.

If it's there, but you can't select it, go into the menu and go to the operator adjustables, and turn tournaments off, turn off the dialing, etc. everywhere you can, so the game knows that it can't connect.

IT shut down the servers for FORE years ago, you can't connect even if you wanted to.

It doesn't show up as a course, but the "courses" screen says that more courses are available in tournament play, it just never shows them. Then I looked online and flyers and other sources show that there are 2 more courses for seven of them. I tried with dialup and tournament settings on and off, no dice.

Thanks for letting me know the servers are down. I guess I'll just have the normal 5. That's cool, it makes for 90 greens (5 x 18).

That's not quite right. There's a couple different things going on here.

In 2004, they released "Golden Tee 2004". Later that year, they released an "Extra" package, that updated the 2004 machine to have 7 courses, instead of just 5.

If you updated a regular Golden Tee 2004 board to a 2005, you would only have 5 new courses, plus two that could only be played on line.

BUT, if you updated a Golden Tee 2004 that had already been updated to an "Extra", the "Extra" two courses stayed on the machine, since it had just been released about 5 months earlier. So then, you had a Golden Tee 2005 Extra, which would have 7 courses installed locally, and another 2 that could be available for league play.

So, while they were online, in 2005 you could play 9 different courses! IT dropped the FORE series off their servers years ago... so if you have a Golden Tee 2005 board (like you do) you only have 5 courses. If you find a Golden Tee 2005 Extra board, you have 7 courses.

That clears it all up. Thanks much!
