I saw a red or two bitd, might even have played one but I clearly spent the majority of time on a blue one so that is the one I searched for, bought, and restored to it's original blue beauty.

Thats like putting a Jaguar hood ornament on a Honda Civic.
Hey Jam - Good point on the serial numbers. The area of serial numbers from 10K to 30K were the TKG2 games. The uprights were from 10K-19.9K. I think it is very possible that there were less than 1000 in that serial number range. The TKG2 cocktails were serial numbers in the 20K-30K range. I would bet even fewer cocktail in that range than uprights in it's range. Probably less than 1500 games total in both.
My guess is Nintendo didn't even think of selling 10K Donkey Kongs as they could even sell 1K Radarscopes so they started the conversion games at 10K and 20K thinking they would never get that high. When demand deemed they would make more games than expected they choose to skip those ranges.

I don't think I have ever seen a red one, and I only remember playing the blue ones BITD. I would have paid $500 for a decent red one, but I got my blue one for almost half that and that's all I have to say about that.![]()
Thanks for the input guys.
I guess I can see how someone would be willing to pay a premium for a special or rare cabinet, but I wasn't really interested in that. I was just looking for a dedicated machine.
For me, I can't see paying a premium for a game just because the cabinet is a different color. It isn't like it has some really cool and different artwork or the cabinet is a different design or it plays any different or anything like that. It's just a different color.
I have come across a few DK machines recently, but everybody seems to want a lot of money for DK right now. I guess it is the current hot ticket machine like Tron was for a while there.
Did the TKG3 cocktails have a designated serial number range?
$500 is a pretty good price even for a blue cab DK. It's a GREAT price for a red cab assuming its in relatively good shape.
i don't know how high the serial numbers go for tkg3 cocktails. mine is 00165. i've been under the impression that all the cocktails were tkg3 as they all seem to be the 4 board style.
Did the TKG3 cocktails have a designated serial number range? How about the cabaret?
