In anticipation of receiving the ArcadeSD board in the next few days, I'd like to swap out the old 4-way stick in my multi cab for a 49-way. I know nothing about which to buy, how to hook it up, etc....

Help a brother out.

Also, the only 49-way that Happ seems to sell has that god-awful black handle. Is there anyone who's had success in finding a drop-in replacement for those of us who like a ball handle? Perhaps someone could manufacture one... I'd buy it.

Thanks,

BD

If your looking for happ 49 way sticks, I probably have 4 or more working spares. maybe we can work something out..

Are you sure the arcadeSD board supports 49 way? Your probably going to have to run power to the stick.

Yes, Clay has stated that the 49 way will be supported, and will map out for each game. I'm just wondering if anyone has any info on how this will wire up to the jamma harness?

You may be able to use a 49 way optical joystick out of like an Arch Rivals. they have an orange ball top.

OR, you may be able to use a 49 way optical out of a Sinistar, with a red ball top.

Personally, I don't want people robbing Sinistars for their multigames, though. Arch Rivals... I'm alright with, LOL.

Make sure both williams and happ sticks will work.. I think this article says they are opposite..

The ArcadeSD currently will not support the Williams version. Only Happ/Atari/Midway style (verify this by reading the other thread and the manual posted)

However in the other thread, Clay indicated he thought he might be able to support Williams, since I pointed out the output is simply inverted -- 1001100 on Happ is 0110011 on Williams for the same selection. But out of the gate, unless you wire up some inverter circuits to flip the 8 bits, it won't work.

According to the manual all of the signal pins of the 49-way hook right into the JAMMA harness. You will need special connectors for 49-way sticks to terminate the JAMMA harness at your CP.

The only extra wiring you will need to run is the +5v and GND.

I have at least 4 working 49 way sticks and 3 or 4 working control boards from an NFL Blitz if anyone needs either. 1 control board needed per 4 sticks....so i have extra boards.

So what's a good source for these then? Prices seem to be around $80 each. Anyone found a better price?

there are enough converted blitz and gauntlets out there that should not have to pay full price.. If you want new, then you might have to pony up real money. I would think around $20 - $25 for used is fair for tested working. I probably have 3 or 4 spare working sticks..
