88mph was gracious enough to test my Journey boardset on his testing rig...and everything seems good with the board set. I'd been having a video issue http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=206435 but it doesn't seem to be board related. Figuring that maybe I had a bad connection issue with the G07 chassis, I reflowed some solder on the header pins. When I hooked everything back up, I was greeted with this nasty sound on start up:

I rechecked all my connections and they seem good...maybe I reversed something? I'm not leaving it powered up, and shut it off within 3 seconds of hearing it. I get it with both my original linear power supply, and with my switcher. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

I have no direct input with regards to a journey. I have had some loud hums with regards to other mcr games. Have definitely had it happen with a root beer tapper when the connector at the amp board was not making good connection and have also seem a completely working spy hunter with really bad hum a few times. In the case of the spy hunters it has always been the large caps on the power brick failing that caused this issue.

Thanks...this is by no means a Journey specific problem...I don't think. That's why I ran it through the original PS and the switcher as well. When I unplug the board set, I don't have the issue and everything seems to power up okay. I might have created a problem by just heating up the solder.

Never mind everyone. As usual, I'm an idiot and I panic and post before inking everything through. I had forgotten that the harness I have in this game is not an original harness, and one of the connectors thats hidden out of view has an extra slot. I had it shifted one slot. Problem solved!
