Scandia Family Fun Center Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Not sure if this was already posted, but this is apparently old news I just found out about. Scandia Family Fun Centers, a family-owned company since 1979 filed for bankruptcy back in February. I think they closed all but their original location and are doing okay for now. It's sad to see another memorable arcade spot suffer.

I have a lot good memories of going there as a kid with my older brothers when we used to live in Vallejo. Even after we moved away, I made a couple of trips there and it was definitely a great place to play arcade games BITD. I may even have a picture that I can hopefully dig up.

On another note, this CL listing was posted today and I pinged him out of curiosity. It's Finn Jensen, VP of Scandia. I guess he has some old out-of-service games that were stored away he's trying to get rid of. I know Scandia has done some game sales over the years to move out old games.

the one down the road from my house here in sacramento is still going. My daughter is going to a birthday party there this sunday as a matter of fact.

Sad to hear that. Use to go to the Fairfield location when my ex-girlfriend lived up there. I know their games were not in the best of shape but it's one of the very few places left in the bay area that have a collection of classics.

that sucks, I didnt hear about that, I grew up @ the fairfield one.. I remember they would sell games/put prices on them right on the floor about 10 years ago too..
This is the place I played everything first....I'm about 800 miles away too....

That's cool they still have more than one location. How are the games at the Sacramento one?

It is sad, but it's good to see they are staying afloat regardless of what games are in there. If I could still walk into my old spots that are gone, I'd consider it a good thing regardless of what games were there.

I did this thread a while back about my favorite hometown spot that closed not that long ago.
