SC3 / Arcade party this Saturday in SoCal!!!!

hahahahahahah. Well, you found my youtube acct. I guess it makes sense to educate the newbs about the evils of JF.

It's hard to equate that little boy from so long ago with the middle aged man setting the high score on Gorf while dancing to Michael Jackson Thriller....

ahahhahhahhahaha, you saw that huh?! Hey, thanks for saying hi, jerk. :D

I was standing right behind you watching you play. When you blew up the mothership I cheered "victory". You took one look at me like I was some stalker...and resumed your game.

I guess i was in the zone. Did you beat my score?

I never played it after you did. I think you beat the high score I had, or mine was a little less than the one you beat. I only played the Gorf once.

I was there from around 1pm until 4:30pm and then left. I came back at 10:00pm when you were there and then I left around 11:30pm. So I was there a total of five hours. I live only 20 minutes from there so it was easy to leave for a while and come back.

This event was like being at an arcade in the old days. A random group of people with varying skills and a wide variety of games. You get a high score, you leave, other people randomly play the machine, sometimes your high score is beaten, and you return to the arcade to challenge for a better score. That's probably what I miss most about the arcade days. If you don't have that, you really don't have an arcade, it's just a collection of machines. In my opinion there's really no such thing as a private arcade.

Good point...

You should have cruised with us to 38º down the street to grab some brew and food. And...the walk from SC3 to the bar was not nearly as long as the old 3 mile stroll from San Jose CAX to the nearest bar. lol

Maybe next time. There are a ton of great restaurants around there and, of course, the original Fosselman's Ice Cream parlor.

I left the first time to go home and do some work, and then went to the movies to see Moneyball with the wife at the theater across the street from the event. That's a very nice theater with a very nice video arcade with new games. Afterwards, I was able to come back to the event. That part of Alhambra is very nice, in some ways better than Old Town Pasadena.

Ow.
Oh geez.
Some of us just started moving again after tearing down and driving home.
If you are/were a volunteer; thank you. You saved us lots of work on Thurs and Sun.

Wizard of Wor should be at every SC3 meet. I love that damned thing, even if Magic Eraser'ing it takes a full hour.

It's not everyday your SX-64 is part of an 8-bit Weapon concert; that was probably the highlight for me on Sat.

Pics and write-up will be up soon; once the dust settles.
