I picked up a converted smash tv a few days ago.. Finally got all the parts to put it back together... Here are some pics.

The problem I am at is the control panel. Overlay has a tear, but the panel was also drilled for gun holsters. So they drilled 3 holes by player 1's move and player 2 fire. Plus it has bonus holes along the edge where the plexi was covering the panel. I was going to order a replacement overlay. Just not sure on the texture or if I should cover it with plexi.. What do you think?

I have never pulled off the metal plate on a williams panel (They drilled through 2 of the dust discs so they need to be replaced). What have people used you pry it off the metal plate from the wood without bending it? I was thinking peel the old overly off and and use a heat gun to loosen it up.. Any ideas?

such a great game, very nice looking cab, it's a shame they converted it to a shooter or that cp would be almost mint.

I'd use a large metal scraper along with the heat gun. maybe put some nuts on the bolt legs(ones that go through the cp and are mounted to the metal panel) and lightly hit with a hammer (use the nuts so you have a larger area to hit and so you don't damage the threads.

don't get the panel to hot just in case the overlay doesn't like the heat.

When I saw the pics of the converted cab, I just had to save it...

Someone told me the metal part of the panel is held down by screws under the overlay. Other than that, I just need to replace the monitor glass and it should be ready..

I love that game and hope to add it to my Midway Collection some day, keep us updated in the restore process!
