So i met this cool old op that had two Arcades back in the late 70's early 80's i have been out to his warehouse a few times and bought items off of him. The last time i was there he took me over to his house where he had some more items. There in his Carport was a Joust Cocktail table. I could tell it was rough but was sad to see when i actually walked up to it that the snow and rain had gotten to it. The left side of the cab and the bottom are a complete mess. The op gave me the game and said good luck! I had plans to rebuild the cabinet but i have very limited wood working skills. In the meantime i got the game going and my kids and i played it in quite often in my work shop. Once in a while a piece of the game would fall off and it would remind me that i need to restore it somehow and get it into our Game room.

Well i found on Craigs list just a few weeks back a Joust Cocktail cabinet that had been converted to a Super Dodge Ball. I paid the guy $75 for the cabinet and have been moving all the parts over to the new cab.

The project is getting closer to being done but it still has a ways to go. Here is a link to my website for some pictures of the two cabinets and the work i have done so far.

That's awesome! Nice that you found a good solid cab to move all the original parts to. I'm not into cocktails, but I really love the Joust cocktails, they are unique and not as awkward to find a place for, unlike most other cocktails.

I finished putting it all together tonight. I grabbed a cold one plugged it jn and it fired right up. Now I just need to remove the Dodgeball decals that are under the glass and some black touchups. I also want to find some of the fake wood vinyl that is on the out side of the cabinet. If anyone knows where tobfind it please let me know. Thx

I have emailed that guy 3 or 4 times over the last month or two and have not gotten a single response. Glad you got it and are going to convert it back.

I have a project machine for sale if you or anyone else wants it. Cabinet and monitor are in decent shape, game plays (most of the time). Just needs CP plexi/art and the horizontal parts of the cab have been covered with some sort of plastic rather than the woodgrain sticker.

Yeah, it was a strange one. I would email the guy and not hear back from him for 3 weeks then a couple of email then nothing again. Finally i just PayPal'd him the $75 and that got things started. I will probably have enough parts left over for you to finish your Joust cocktail project. I have extra cp plexi/art, it's not great but not terrible either. I took off the best parts to make one nice one. The hard part would be finding the cocktail joysticks i think? I believe they are shorter?

Let me know if you are interested,

Shayne...

PM me some pics of the CP's/plexi and how much you want for them shipped or the next time you are in my neck of the woods. My CP's are pretty gouged up but joysticks and buttons are okay. You can get new CP's/and player 1/2 select plexi fro around $100 if you decide to go that route.

Check with Steph from HobbyRomsto see if she sold her joysticks/overlays with her project cabinets that she sold a few weeks ago.

Are you planning on restoring and keeping your Joust Cocktail table? Or are you going to sell it off? I hear they are worth a little more than the average game?

The original "gunstock" woodgrain is no longer made. The make a replacement that looks almost exactly the same, but is a little bit shinier. Still it looks really good.

A guy near here just had his Defender cocktail redone and it looks really good. I'll try to post the pics I took. The cabinet guy who did the laminate replacement (and the masonite under the laminate on the top) did a great job, and I'll probably have him redo my Joust CT at some point.

I don't recall the name of the laminate they used, but I know they got it from Home Depot (ordered). I'll see if I can call him and ask him what it was called - tomorrow...

I don't really have time to restore it so I am probably going to sell it. Feel free to come check it out if you are in Calgary soon. Another KLOV'er is coming on Monday to see it and a Centipede cocktail. I buried it in the garage when I got it as I went from 6 games in there to 15 basically in 2 days so I didn't get any pictures.

I have only seen 2 Joust cocktails. One worked, the other was somewhat incomplete. It had bad/wrong control panels or something. Quite a unique table. Very nice work on the parts swap out. Those are nice and relatively easy to do.

Thinking of selling my Joust Cocktail Table, what are these worth? Thx guys

Stuff I got for mine looks the same I couldn't tell the difference. Aside from the fact that I chose a slightly different section of the pattern in the wood grain when I cut it.

Oh and the joy sticks on mine are from an upright I just used a router and removed enough wood and they fit perfectly.

Which laminate did you use and where did you get it? And is that black around the monitor painted wood, or painted glass?

T black around the monitor is a black plastic piece with a leather texture like some t molding. I would be interested as well in finding were he found the replacement wood laminent.

Honestly I have no Idea what brand the Laminate is I got it from a local place had to dig it out of the back stock room. The guy had a few old sheets laying around I have plans for the rest for my DK mini. The black around the monitor is a leather textured sheet it goes right over the edges of the monitor shroud. The top is Plexiglas not sure if it was originally glass or not since this is the only Joust CT I have seen in person. None of the front is original had to build that from scratch.
