Tonight I brought my Asteroids to life and breathed new life into my Asteroids Deluxe. Now my vector ratio is officially above 50%.

When I picked up the Deluxe this summer, the seller only let me play it for a minute and then hurriedly loaded it in the truck for me. Something about the transaction left a bad taste in my mouth. When I got it home and turned it on, it looked ok for a few minutes, then the monitor started "breathing", getting bigger and dimmer until you couldn't see anything in the center of the screen after 15 mins.

Thanks to Xavier for selling me a 19V2000 chassis, I replaced the HV in the Deluxe and it cleared right up. Then I swapped tubes with the Asteroids' burn-free G05 (got my first tube shock in the process), and now the monitor looks like it's brand new. The pic doesn't do it justice, but AD with a bright monitor in the dark is beautiful.

I had been having major problems getting the Asteroids G05-802 deflection board working, but I frankensteined the G05 frame/HV with the V2000 deflection board and tube and it fired right up! Didn't get any pictures of it because it's still in the garage. But I got a nice little Atari row going on in the basement, and Asteroids will fit right in. Now to find a Lunar Lander and Quantum!

Sweet! AD is definitely one of my favorite vectors. Its kind of hard to tell from the pic, but is the blacklight working on your machine?

Yeah it's working; that's what's giving the cardboard asteroids their glow. You almost wouldn't see them if it was off.
