Just thought I'd drop this in, Stride Gum is doing a "Save the Arcade" promo. You play this tedious little game and donate the points to the arcade of your choice. The arcade with the most points gets $25,000.

I have been trying to earn some points for the Star Worlds Arcade in IL, but it's still at the bottom of the list. That's really unfortunate because it would seem that Star Worlds is a real "Old School Arcade". Lot's of classics there.

Yeah, that is a shame. I would like either Star Worlds or Game Galaxy to win; they have the biggest selection of classics. But Arcade UFO here in Austin has a big following, so it's most likely that they are going to win. Plus they are already at 80 million points!

KLOV Member DreamTR actually owns Game Galaxy arcade. I've been donating my points to him.

You know, if everyone on these forums played the crap outta that game and donated the points to the Game Galaxy arcade, then it could have a shot at winning.

I guess it would make sense that I should be supporting Arcade UFO, seeing that it is closest to me, but I'd much rather keep the classics alive then that Japanese stuff.

I've been to the Game Galaxy. I was just visiting the mall in nashville while driving through to Memphis. I was really impressed with the selection. I would love to see that place stay open so one day I can go back. Let's get together and win them some points!

I just added 55k to Game Galaxy. They should have named the game 'sine wave' because that seemed to be the best strategy for the character I chose.

Sweet Game Galaxy rules! I'm going to play when I get home.

We've been try'ng... but it's really hard to keep up with the leaders.

I'm saying this of my own volition... but watching Arcade UFO's scores, it's impossible that they're not cheating. I went to bed one night, they had 62mil... woke up the next morning... they had 75mil. Doing the math... it would take almost 240 people, submitting a 50-55K score, each, to achieve that in one NIGHT... night... you know, when most people sleep? I'm sorry, not possible. Start watching the scores, you'll see what I mean.

Oh, and trust me... cheating in flash games is very common and easy. There have been many many discussions about it on a site for one of the online games I play (Hammer Fest).

It's really a shame that they (and I'm sure they're not the only ones) would sink to that... but to each their own I guess. I'm not saying it's the owners, could be the customers, could just be randomness... no idea. But something is VERY fishy.

I'm obviously cheering and donating to Game Galaxy, but even if GG doesn't win, they will still have a better customer/player base and better people working there.

Oh, and if you decide to stop by GG in the future... for the love of God, load my Tron up with some money will ya'!? :D She's the only machine I've got there!

In the end, who ever wins a contest like this through cheating will have more money, and get more machines... but still be worthless as a person.

I totally agree with you. Arcade UFO has been skyrocketing in points, and cheating is definitely a possibility. And even though I live very far away from where Game Galaxy is located, that's where I'm putting my points.

But then again, it does make you type in that verification code after you play, which would deter most bots.

It's not even about bots, it's just hacking your score while the game is running... they're literally editing their memory on the fly.

What was happening in Hammer Fest is people were using a program, which I'm NOT going to mention, to search their system's memory while the game is running to find their score/level/lives/power/etc, then making the cheat program insert a false value... then the program will go from there. Say, like in the Save The Arcades game... the creatures on the first level give you 50 points a piece... start the game... kill a few creatures. Then they'll find the score (150 or so) then inject a false score... for example, I don't know... 13 million. Then they submit that score.

There's no real way to run a bot for that game.
