I've been offered a Satan's Hollow for my Frogger. I know they are very different gameplay-wise, but would you trade one for the other? Other than the cool looking cab, does SH have anything to offer?

yeah, awesome gameplay. it's like galaxian/galaga with a challenge - build the bridge while being shot at so you can kill satan. i'd do that trade. froggers are easier to come by.

Take it, Satan hollow is a bad ass game and looks awsome. Frogged is a plain game but fun to but you also can get them for cheap

Take the satans hollow. If you don't like it sell it and buy 3 froggers with the money you get. I have both and satans hollow is superior in gameplay in my opinion.

No Brainer!!! Hollow all the way!!!! I think the gameplay of Satans Hollow is way better than Frogger, And the cab is unreal cool...

Here's another condsideration; Frogger is the only classic I have in my collection right now. It is the game with the most universal appeal. Everyone knows it; everyone loves it.

Will SH appeal to more casual visitors, or will it be "cool looking game, do you have a Pac Man?"

Edit: also - no sound on Satan's Hollow

It'll most likely be the latter.

Still, you'd be nuts not to do the trade IMHO, sound or no sound.

If it's all original you'll probably have to do a rebuild on the amp.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with Frogger, and definitely prefer the game play of Satan's Hollow, which is a much much more difficult game to come by.

That said. Frogger would probably get more play when you have company over.

Do the trade, Satan's Hollow > Frogger. Then if you're worried about the lack of universal appeal, buy another Frogger.

I would say that SH is definitely a good game with a very cool cab and as others have pointed out it is more rare than frogger. The fact that most people would not recognize it would probably mean it would not get a ton of play. Personally I think frogger is a better game that will appeal to a wider crowd. Not really knocking SH as I enjoy the game but frogger became a huge hit while SH did not. That alone speaks volumes. Sounds like the main reason you have a classic in the line up is for the recognition the title gets and the draw it will have to the non arcade addict. I doubt SH will have this appeal

I totally understand the concern about keeping the game room fun for visitors. My #1 priority is to have mostly games that people will play and enjoy. But I also have a game or two that nobody really cares about but myself. You just have to weigh that balance. But as others have hinted at....you could easily trade SH for 2 or 3 real classics that everyone would enjoy.

Trade for the Hollow. Cool game plus it garners more money so if you get tired of it you'll be able to sell it for good coin. Look how many people on here are raving about it. This question is about as easy to answer as "Do I want a free fully working Twilight Zone pin or not?"

lol

Well, on the surface it seems like a no-brainer, but I'm not one to sell games frequently, and the collector base around here is kind of slim, so the value difference is not as great of a factor to me. Also, Satan's Hollow may look cool (they do look badass), but if it never gets any play then it will be a bad trade, regardless of how sweet it looks in the lineup.

Anyway, I really appreciate the input from everyone. I think we are going to get together to check out the games first hand and go from there.

I love me some Frogger, but it starts slow, and SH starts out faster, more fun and get's hectic fast - it's a better game IMHO and the cabinet is a really attractive addition. I'd trade 2 working Froggers for one no sound SH.

Frogger is one of my "back in the day" games and I would love to have one. However, I haven't played Satan's Hollow outside of MAME. The gameplay is ok but I am not a fan.

If you're looking for visitor appeal, I can tell you that SH is probably one of the least played games in my lineup in that category. But with that said, I'd still do the trade, love mine. Make the sound issue work for you and maybe haggle the cost of repairs in with the trade.
