I plugged a Satan's Hollow boardset into my Tron and started it up and all I see is a white test grid.

I've done the following:

1. tried another set of ribbon cables
2. pressed the reset button
3. performed the dip switch test (solid yellow light..means ok)

Any thoughts?

I have another Tron boardset that I could potentially swap boards to try to isolate which board has the problem (will that even work? I believe they are interchangeable)

Thanks!!

Sorry, I mean the LED lights when in test mode (setting the dip switches)...That's supposed to happen, at least that's the way it is on Tron....

Does the Z80 still make sense in light of that?

If the Z80 is bad it could make the LED come on too, not sure if the switches would. I don't mess with the dips, I usually use the test switch behind the coin door. When the LED is on there's a problem.

Yeah the led is not on in normal mode and I cannot get to the service menu (switch behind coin door) because the boards never boot, they just load into the white grid at startup...

You can also see if the SSIO is causing issues too by eliminating it. To run the game you just need the Video and CPU boards. You won't have sound or controls and the screen will be upside down but you can see if it boots.

After swapping EEPROMs into a working Tron boardset, I've determined the EEPROMS are good...the game works in the working boardset...

Then I swapped the boards and it seems to be the Super CPU board (middle board) that is having an issue in my SH boards....not sure what yet...

Did you swap the Z80's??

I just swapped the Z80s and tried both boards (to rule out a bad socket)...Sure enough its a bad Z80...

Yes thanks for the reply on this...

It was actually the Z80CTC chip. I had CDJUMP helping in the background as well.

I have to say the folks on this forum are pretty awesome!! I hope I can help others as much as folks have been helping me!!
