Ok, Let me say I'm new to the forum. I have always had a passion for vintage arcade games. I recently purchased nine games, five of them are in working condition. So out of the broken four games I have choosen to start with the Nintendo "Popeye". I installed a cap kit which went very smooth. When I turned the game on after the cap kit install. The game looked great for about 2-3 mins., then the monitor went to see "attached photo". It appears to just be the top of the monitor. I have turned all the pots and dials that I can turn and yes the H hold, and this is the best I can get the monitor. I have read and viewed different threads but nothing seems to match my porblem, I even read the flow chart. This is a great forum with tons of info. So I thought would I ask for some HELP!! Thank you so much!

First - With the power off verify that the H Hold pot is working using your meter to measure the resistance through it's entire range.
Next - Verify that you have the monitor on the header correctly

Thanks for the fast reply, remember New guy here. how might I test Hhold? Then you said make the monitor is on the "header" correct? At this time the monitor is out of the cabinet. Thanks agian

DO NOT plug the monitor into a wall outlet or you WILL blow the monitor.

Sorry for the confusion, had two conversations going on at the same time. Wife was talking to me while I was typing.

Meant to say... make sure that the monitor cable is on the header pins correctly.

One lead of your meter to the H Hold pot center leg and the other lead to one of the outer legs. turn the pot and watch the value change throughout its entire range of motion.

Ok, tested H hold appears good. Value changed on meter while I was turning H hold pot. Next step is making sure header pin is on correct. Any tips on what I should be looking for, not a 100% on what header pin is. Before I can try this I must put the kiddos to bed. Check back soon.

The monitor cable is flat, usually an off white color ribbon with a 6 pin white female connector on it. It connects to the 6 pin video header on the monitor chassis approx 2 inches forward of the flyback cage, or if you have an inverter board on the inverter board

Wife gave me a pass on the kiddos. It's hooked up looks great! But now I have a slight wave going from top to bottom. :(

Sorry, I was installing the monitor back in the cabinet. I quickly checked the grounds. I will give it a really good once over again. I really appreciate your help. I've read alot of your post, they are very helpful. Thanks again Scott

One last thing, the picture appears to be tilted 1/4 inche down on right side. Meaning the whole picture not just the right side.

the whole picture being tilted is caused by someone at some point in time bumping the yoke. You will need to loosen the yoke clamp and turn the yoke slightly.
