Well I picked up another DK machine, and guess what, another issue with the EZV!!
From day one the monitor seemed to be washed out down the middle of the picture. I put a Bob Roberts EZV deluxe cap kit on it. That did not help at all. I put a diffetent chassis on it, same issue! So where do I go next? Anyone recognize this problem from the pics? Is this an issue with the DK board its self?

Looks like a tube issue. Maybe a rejuvenator may help, but the phosphorous coating inside the tube may be worn out in that area...

I get that appearance when I move a monitor while its on and the earth's (?) magnetic field effects it. Try to turn it like a horizontal monitor and see if the washed out spots change location...

Hmm,
Well I guess I should have mentioned that it has a pretty heavy burn in right through the middle of the picture, that once said "VS BASEBALL" The color distortion seems to be centered around that same center section of the tube. Is there any fix for this?

Hey Steve,
I probably should know
What's a "rejuvenator" can you explain?
I have a feeling it is excactly what you said just by looking at it, and thinking about that burn......

Thanks Dokert,
Will do, I'd bet tits to dollars that is what is going on here. This tube was obviously in a horizonaly mounted Nintendo VS Baseball cab for many many years. I thought it strange that the discoloring was centered right through the BIG block lettered "BASEBALL" burn in.
If the rejuv doesn't work, then what? End of the road for this tube?

I maybe sum dumb, but I'm not plum-dumb!! :) Of COURSE I'd save the chassis! :)
Well it has a Degaussing button on this EZV, I've used it, it apprears to do something, but doesn't help my problem. Where could one find a compatable tube for this?
Also I did some research on a CRT Rejuvenator. Seems like one with a manual would walk you through the process of using it. My BIG question is, I've seen ones from $5, to $1800!!! What is a good model for my home hobby use!? One that will do what I do what I need it to do. I don't mind spending a few bucks on a nice tool, but keep in mind I do this as a hobby, I don't make a living from this! So I don't need an $1800 one! I'd like to try and save this tube if I can?
What are the odds that a Rejuv will fix it? Do they work 20%, 50%, 80% of the time? I don't want to spend a $100 bucks on one, it NOT work, then have to get another tube anyway?
Thoughts??

Get a BK490 with the CR23 and CR31 adapters for sure. There are a bunch of other adapters, and a universal adapter, but those two will cover most of the common ones...

Hard to say, it is a crap shoot. I just rejuved 3 Sanyo 20EZV tubes last weekend, 2 came out awesome and 1 was just too far gone to save.

OUCH! :) Looks like I'm going to have to get more serious about monitor repair if I make the leap to get one of these! I could probably pick up a half a dozen EZV tubes for the price of even the cheaper one! :) $900 I just can't do. What does a decent EZV tube run these days? 75$? Hmmm, what to do what to do!!! It is a sweet piece of equipment though, I guess I'll have to decide if I will get my moneys worth out of buying one? I'm sure they hold their value if I ever wanted to resell. How tough is it to figure out how to use? MY luck, I'll drop the 4hundy on it, it won't help my problem, and I'll be back to looking for a tube for a game I paid $300 for! Somebody please help talk me into buying it!!! :)
