Did a cap kit on a Sanyo EZ20 and as soon as I plugged it in (for only a few seconds) I noticed smoke rising from the area right by the flyback. I checked and all the caps are oriented correctly. I have yet to check values on the caps but I was pretty careful to make sure they were correct.

Anyone ever see this before or have suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

I assume you plugged the monitor into the power supply in the cab and NOT a regular outlet in your shop.

Did it smell really nasty, like something worse than a dead cat?

Nope, no bad odor other than a slight burning smell.

Yep, plugged it into the 100V power source inside the cab.

I was thinking it was the flyback that just took the opportunity to die right after I did the cap kit, but I am hoping for a more easy-to-fix solution. :-/

Did you leave any clipped leads, solder bridges, or solder globs on the solder side of the board? Also, visually check around the FB for burn marks or failed components (Resistors, diodes, etc) If it was a cap they usually "POP" when installed wrong.
