I recapped the ez20 on my DK jr. Now every once and a while i get a little pop noise, followed by a really quick loss of picture then it may be a few minutes before it does it again or not at for a while. Any ideas?

Did you double check your work? Sounds like a flyback possibly.

The EZ20 in my Donkey Kong had a flyback with a small burn-through hole. That'd be an indication of arcing although it didn't happen during the short time I ran it before replacing the flyback and installing a cap kit.

I know you probably got it already but did you check the B+ after 30 min of warm up after the cap kit? Should be set at 108.

I'll be watching this one though. Wonder if it is the flyback.

I think i've triple checked the board, but will look at it again. It's still pretty easy to miss something. My flyback looks okay, but i will check it over a bit more too. I will also check the b+ voltage. I just noticed on the flow chart that you are supposed to do that after a recap. I know i didn't give much to go on, but these all seem like great suggestions. I'll try to check it out tonight and report back.

Here a tip I got from Chris25810 on the flyback. Take the back off your cabinet turn the machine on. Turn all the lights out and watch the flyback in the dark. If it arcs you will be more likely to see it.

Thats a good tip, but i already tried that and didn't notice anything. May try it again and make sure im watching in the flyback area.

So i think i got this one figured out. I was watching Randy Fromm's CRT repair seminar (the one he has posted on youtube) and got the idea there. He was talking about forgetting to hook the ground up on the neck board. Well, i checked and mine was hooked up, but very loosely. I pulled it off and crimped the connector down a bit and stuck it back on. Since then i haven't gotten the pop i was getting.
