Monitor has been recapped w/ Bob's Plus kit w/ Audio rebuild as well.

This is mounted horizontally in a Vs cab. The lines are vertical and very faint white lines about every 1/2 " or so pretty uniform. Turned the screen down and they get lighter, but at the lowest setting, they are still there. My buddy says he has a rebuilt Sanyo that does the same thing. Not sure if there is an adjustment that will take this out or not.

I don't know if I can capture it in a pic, but I can try later.

Thanks,
Robert

A pic would help. It sort of sounds like retrace lines. If that is the case, your screen adjustment on the flyback is up too high. Try turning it down.

EDIT: sorry, I just reread that they are vertical in a horizontal mount. Sounds like you still have jail bars.

I can't really make out the lines but I think I may know what you're talking about.
Do you have a different .Vs board you can try besides SMB?
I have seen several SMB games display the light colored vertical lines you speak of
(mine included).

I put in my Golf board that has bad graphics. The lines do not seem to be there. The Golf board is a MDS-03 and the SMB is a MDS-04. If I get bored, I could swap the SMB chips into it.

Are they faint vertical lines, about the same distance apart as one of the numbers in the score? Those are actually not a problem with the monitor - they're caused by the PPU, and are an "artifact" if you will of that chip. The original NES does the same thing, and it's a lot more noticeable on the newer top-loading Nintendo.

Just how those games work. It's noticeable on Super Mario Bros in the blue background, not so noticeable in other levels and other games.

Aha! I did swap my SMB chips to the Golf board and no change. Game works, but with the faint lines. Guess we just live with it. Cool.

I have the same issue with my vs. SMB . Is there a fix for this ?
