Sanyo EZ-20 beyond repair?

Yes! But DO NOT use a standard allen key to tweak this. Inside is a brittle ferrite core, that a metal Allen key can break apart. It also heats up when you put metal in there, so there's another reason why it's not a good idea. Radio shack used to sell a small pack of TV adjustment tools, which came with plastic parts, and one of which doubled for this purpose.

I tried the Allen key method before, and now my H-width is shot and I wasn't able to adjust it. H-width coils are hard to find and can be expensive for some chassis, so be careful. Find a plastic adjustment tool to attempt this, please. This is coming from an owner of a monitor that no longer has an H-width coil available. Although I'm sure Sanyo's can still be purchased.

Me again :)

I got a plastic allen tool and tried to adjust the H-width coil. It will not turn with a pretty decent amount of torque. I'm not sure if it is stuck or what. I don't want to force it too much.

There are really thin blue lines on both sides. Is this normal?

crappy pic attached.

I felt like I was turning too hard, like the next thing would be it popping off the board or something. It's not terrible...just wanna stretch it a little bit if possible.

I've found it sometimes turns easier while it's warm, so maybe play it for a half hour, then try adjusting. Also, I've cranked pretty hard on them and I've never broken one w/ the plastic tool, though if it's really stuck, I guess it's possible (I'd expect that you'd probably rip the whole coil off the board or break the tool before breaking the core).
