Sanyo 20EZV Flow Chart

Thanks to Buffet I went to test the B+ and that I ran the iron over all the joints after the voltage regulator.

I put it back together and powered it on to test the B+ and it came on!

Sweet! No parts needed!

Buffy, I am going to wait until I get the TPG from CraftyMech.

sounds good but it will be better if you get like VS duck hunt or VS Mario and coin it to a black screen.

or just coin DKjr so you have a good amount of black and use that.

the TPG does not output enough voltage on some chassis to fine tune the black level or color balance some games.

this is a side affect that is un avoidable on the TPG from all my testing.

also did you set your B+.

The B+ was 109v.

cool that is close enough.

i am a stickler in my games and it has to be 108.0-108.3 at most but that is just me being anal.

good luck on getting it adjusted.

Not sure what you are seeing is wrong it looks pretty good in person. The whites are a little blue but black is black. It is just my camera making it look to bright.

being a monitor guy, i notice many thing that others don't.

it looks to me your sub brightness is not set correct and your colors are a bit off.

it may be the camera in some ways but i bet if i came and color and wite balanced it for you, you would notice a difference.

all in all it looks fantastic and if your happy with it, that is all that matters.

I will take a picture with my Nikon I think you will see a difference.

It is really hard to photograph something and have it look like it does in real life, in particular monitors. I think that this is pretty representative of what it looks like. I took the bezel off to photograph the monitor too.

Alright...so I think I need some guidance I've done or replaced:

-Cap kit (audio board as well..sound is good)
-Flyback
-HOT
-B+ pot
-B+ filter cap
-Voltage regulator (IC601)
-Q901 transistor

I am still reading at 130v for my B+. I think I'm still going into high voltage shutdown because I hear the flyback for a second but I get no picture or neck glow. I have also removed the B+ pot and I am still reading 130v for my B+. Shouldn't it be reading 0v with the pot removed?

looking good for sure.

are the HS letters blue or have a blue hue to them.
it looks that way in the pics.

they should be solid wite.

Was going to start a new thread but then saw this one. When you say horizontal collapse, does that mean that there is a vertical line on the screen? Cause that is what I am up against. Never touched any test switches. Game was playing fine then the screen went blank except for a dime vertical line. Purchased a 20 EZ rebuild kit (Cap kit and flyback) and a new HOT from Bob Roberts and installed all components. Definitely had a bad Flyback, as I now hear that wonderful electrical sizzle as the HV hits the tube. However, monitor still has nothing but a (now nice bright) vertical line in the middle of the screen. Any idea what is going on here?

It depends on the orientation of the monitor. For example, Donkey Kong is a vertical game (monitor turned vertical), do vertical collapse would actually be a line straight up and down, and would appear to be "horizontal collapse".

First, check the test switch on the chassis. Next, there are lots of possibilities. I had a nightmare with one if these chassis, but I did get it up and running. Here's my thread, showing the steps I took:

Hope that is some help....

my bet is you have a cold solder joint, broken trace or broken solder pad.

theses are the most common causes of VC on a Sanyo.

check all your work again.

No picture???

Great thread, lots of information. I read the entire thing. The trouble shooting flow chart is just what I'm looking for (Thanks), but I'm still stuck:(

I have a Sanyo20EZV monitor in my DK machine. It worked but has been off in my garage for about 10 years (dry and protected). Now it won't power up at all. I looked at the fuses and they look good, but still no power??? The cabinet is getting power, but the monitor doesn't come on. No audio either. The only thing that worked was the marquee light. I feared the worst.

I poked around but I'm not a great electrical guys, so I bit the bullet and bought a recapped monitor board that was claimed to be working. When I installed it, the audio came up and I could hear credits go in and I could play the game (no picture)! So the PC boards and game could all be good, but still no picture on the monitor. It doesn't even glow like it has any power. it's like it's turned off???

105v is reaching the monitor board, but I don't know what to check beyond that. And most recently I powered it up again and i get no audio again??? I'm back to square 1.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Where are you located?
update your general location and maybe a local can come help you.

#2
start your own thread.

#3
in your new thread, post pics of your wiring with all connections and paste your description above there.

it sounds like you do not have something connected properly.
