Sanyo 20EZV Flow Chart

Video connectors checked. I would get the blank greenish screen if that was the case. You can actually see the picture, but it looks like it has a white film over it.

I actually meant that I have seen a similarly white-washed picture that was the resulting damage from plugging the edge connector in backward, powering it up, and then correcting the problem. I am guessing, though, that you haven't had the edge connector off lately or anything.

EDIT: I clicked the link on your signature to see your setup. It looks like you have a vector labs switcher in there, maybe? I have seen others have the washed out pic that have used the switcher in their setup. There was a thread on it here somewhere, I just haven't located it yet.

I was using a Mark Spaeth Jamma to Nintendo adapter which does the same thing the VL one does. I removed that adapter and plugged everything back directly to the DK PCB and that's when I got the white screen.

I found that thread and it's exactly the same issue I'm having:

Hopefully it's a simple fix for you. Definitely keep us updated. I'm glad you found that thread.

Thanks. Serves me right for trying to run an Arcadeshop PCB in my DK when it was perfectly fine before as DK/D2K. I just wanted to give people more options to play. I really hope I get my beautiful picture back. :(

I can't even play/test the JAMMA PCB in DK anymore because the Spaeth adapter crapped out (yet another problem), which is why I was trying to switch it back. The Arcadeshop PCB still works though as I was able to test it in my SFII.

Did you test the voltages? Also you didn't plug the sanyo in a outlet other than the on inside the cabinet? Because that monitor is 100v and plugging it in a outlet other than the one inside the cabinet will kill it.

I know not to plug into anything other than the cab outlet due to it needing 100V. The issue was caused by the adapter most likely based on the other thread where someone had the same exact problem as me. I won't know for sure until Buffett gets to his chassis.

Verify good connection to both grounds in the video cable. That washed out pic comes from loss of ground in the video signal cable. Could be a cold solder joint at the video signal header on the monitor too. Specifically the video header grounds.

Thanks, Dave. Makes sense since I was unplugging/plugging that video cable a couple of times before it crapped out. I'll pull the chassis again and check. Will report back once I do.

Reflowed the video header joints. Nada. Even reflowed the couple of joints Buffett pointed out in the other thread. Nada. This chassis will be tabled and replaced with the one I sent in for repairs. Sigh. I miss DK.

Just reporting back after some more troubleshooting.

Reflowed more solder joints on the chassis as well as the neck board. Even swapped out the power supply to see if that was the issue. Nothing. Same white screen. I can see and play the game, but it looks like there's a layer of fog. I give up. Going to wait for Buffett to fix the other chassis I sent to him. Put that in DK and call it a day.

Thanks everyone for chiming in with suggestions and tips.

Where is TR902 on the 20EZ?

I don't see any transistors starting with 900, is it an error? Should be checking TR402? And how do I check it?

So I pulled T402 and tested like this guy suggested

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0jCUsenNsY

Everything tests OK until I test resistance between the Collector and the Emitter. I get .57 mega ohms resistance with positive on the collector and negative on the Emitter, 2.8 megaohms with positive on the emitter and negative on the collector. Which would indicate that the transistor is bad by his way of testing.

Anyone have any thoughts? The fact that the fact sheet says it is a TV Vertical Deflection output transistor makes me think that I have the wrong transistor.

I'm not sure what your symptoms are, but TR402 is definitely in the vertical deflection circuit, so normally, when this is bad, you have vertical collapse.

Thanks Buffett! My 10 year-old daughter is really interested in repairing monitors now! She will love this video!

glad she is taking an interest in fixing these old machines.

i have lots of great videos for her to watch and they are ALL kid friendly and easy to follow.

good luck on that Sanyo.

Peace
Buffett
