Hi,

I just recaped a Sanyo 20EZV. It's the first time I attempt to recap a monitor. I spent 2 hours playing with the monitor adjustments and cannot get a vivid picture.

If you take a look at the pic, the lower monitor is sharp and clear. The upper monitor (the one I recaped) is a bit colorless.

I tried adjusting the sub-brightness at VR301. I also tried the brightness on the main chassis.

Any idea of what it could be ?

Thanks

Hi,

I tried all the settings highlited in red in the picture below. I also adjusted the B+ to 108V and used the VR301 (sub-brightness).

Any other adjustment I can do ?

none of the 3 'brightness' adjustments made a significant difference?

try to bypass the inverter board mounted on top of the flyback cage?

otherwise you may need a rejuve or maybe your brightness pot is dead?

usually a combination of the 3 brights should get you there, then it's a matter of balancing the 3 for a nice black level so the colors aren't washed out

The 3 birghtness adjustments appear to be working. Without playing with them, I could not even see the image. If I crank them too much, the screen gets white but even then, it's not a brilliant white. The image always look faded compared to the other monitor.

I did try to bypass the inverter. Did not change anything. What are the symptoms of a dying tube ? I do not have access to a rejuvenator. I did not even know they existed 10 minutes ago ;)

Thanks for your help guys !

Guns get weak, picture gets dim. Missing colors, unbalanced colors, or colors locked on.

To test if it is the tube, you can swap chassis between top and bottom monitor (assuming they are the same). Although, that's a pain in the ass for nintendo monitors :)

You can also test its not the video signal by swapping your monitor connectors between the top/bottom monitor.
